Guest guest
Hi Delaine, What you wrote is interesting. I use to drink about 12 cans of soda a day, I stopped but this was something I always did. Now I only drink one cup of tea a day the rest is water. Well not right now since I have all these stomach problems I have been drinking a little ginger ale. They told me to drink coke but I didn't want to get caught up in drinking soda again. It is really interesting I will be interested in reading more. Guest guest
Hi Delaine and Jim, Your note was very interesting. I use to drink about 12 cans of Pepsi a day. I did this for years, it got worse when I was a manager in a retail store. We never had time to stop and eat, so I just drank one soda after the other. A little over a year ago, I stopped all soda. I was surprised it wasn't even hard to stop. Since I have been having all the stomach problems I was getting concerned because I have been drinking ginger ale. I just needed something to settle things down once in awhile. I don't ever want to start drinking all that soda again. Your article is interesting, I am always trying to find out why I have this RA. It does not run in my family. Guest guest
, Have you tried ginger tea? It may be more soothing than the ginger ale, especially since it is winter! a ----- Original Message ----- From: Valued Compaq Customer <ruf-caimi@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, November 27, 2000 6:39 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Causes of RA > Hi Delaine and Jim, > Your note was very interesting. Guest guest
, I sent a link in that tells about different teas. Read the one on ginger. It really helps the stomach, and is used by people going through chemotherapy. It is also great for motion sickness. You can make your own or buy it in tea bags. I hope it helps. I'm feeling better thanks. is still up half the night coughing his brains out. This bug is enjoying hanging on to him. I'm glad you are able to go back to school. I am still in limbo land, so I will probably take an online course. I'm glad you are feeling better, and hope you continue to improve. a ----- Original Message ----- From: Valued Compaq Customer <ruf-caimi@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, November 27, 2000 9:27 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Causes of RA > Hi a, > No I haven't I have never heard of it. Guest guest
Hi a, I am going to look into the tea. I saw the primary today and he feels that the pancreatitis may have come from high cholesterol in the blood. He said even though my cholesterol is under control now it was very high for how long we don't know. The pancreatitis thing can happen when it is high. The stomach problem is a separate problem. Tomorrow is the hida scan and it will take about four hours. It will show whether the gallbladder is diseased or not. I told him though that I would not have it out before Xmas, and then after that it is school time. Guess I am scared and buying time, but I am losing so much weight. I am just going to take it day by day. I went up to the college today because advisors were up there. What a pain, all the way up to the campus and no liberal arts advisors, such a waste of time. I am going to go on line, I need to make sure all my credits will transfer. I don't want to transfer and find out that I have taken things that won't help me. I'm dreading tomorrow but I guess I need to do this test. It is just that things don't go well for me. I called the people who make remicade and reported the pancreatitis. This has happened to three other people but they don't know if it was the drug or something else. Anyway I wanted it documented what happened to me. Hope you are having a good day. Thank you for your help with the tea. Guest guest
: Regarding your SS hearing, do you have an attorney to help? Sometimes by the time you get to the hearing stage, it is good to have one to help you. I got the SSD on the second appeal, thank God. I really got it for depression first, then they re-evaluated for RA as well. It is easier to get it for depression believe it or not than for physical problems. They have some pretty wierd rules. Best of Luck. Jeannette
Guest guest
, I hope he is right so that you can continue with your remicade. I'll be praying that your scan tomorrow has good results. I don't blame you for being scared. I would be scared too. Sorry your trip to register wasn't productive. I hope you get your health issues resolved and can return to school. a ----- Original Message ----- From: Valued Compaq Customer <ruf-caimi@...> < egroups> Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2000 2:53 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Causes of RA > Hi a, > I am going to look into the tea. Guest guest
Hi a, Thank you, I wish I didn't have to do this but I know it is necessary. At least between yesterday and today, both doctors have told me they will send the necessary letters I need for the S.S. hearing that is coming up very soon. We don't have the date yet but it will be very soon. I'll let you know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Jeannette, Yes I do have an attorney. This is my second time, to be honest when the doctor offered me elavil I took it because I knew it being an anti-depressant would help my case. I am not trying to be dishonest but it is so difficult to get the SS approved. I have been approved three times at the district level and when it gets to burg it gets refused. I was just in reconsideration for over one year. They just couldn't make up their minds. So when this drug was offered I took it without complaining. You are right it is easier to get it for depression than a physical ailment. I guess they just have to be careful and sure that a person needs it. Glad your mom and dad are starting to do better. It is so hard when your parents get ill. My mom is 78 and I know time grows short, so we treasure her while we have her. Guest guest
This is some things that I figured out from my Natural Healing Book. I posted it several months ago..however, I thought some new people might be interested in it. Jim & Delaine Lowry wrote: > After eating the bagel yesterday, I hurt all over today. Yes, this rings true to me. I know many people living with much more stress than I've had, yet, no RA. If stress alone were the cause one would expect to see dramatically higher rates among air traiffic controllers, ER docs, prisoners living in crowded conditions, etc. Sierra
Guest guest
I agree with the thought RA can be triggered by stress.. I had pneumonia back in 1991 and read that the virus could have gotten in me then and did not manifest itself until 1997. It hit me pretty fast(over a 2 week period) and I had very poor eating habits at the time. I am married to a Viet Nam vet who had head injury and post traumatic shock syndrome.. SO I have plenty stress in my life and also a male chauvinist pig for a boss at work!!!! I need a few more years before I can retire.... Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: Jacy Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Sunday, June 06, 2004 4:36 PM Subject: Causes of RA What bothers me about RA being "caused" by stress is that then some can, and will, say, it is all in your head. We know it isn't all in our heads. But this could conceivably cause insurance problems. I am not downplaying the part that stress plays in Ra and other auto-immune diseases. But rather than being "caused" by stress, I believe it can be "triggered" by stress. But the underlying cause was already there; whether trauma, virus, genetic pre-disposition or something else. Guest guest
I've been following the conversation about cause and effect with interest, as I've always found it frustrating that I can't pin down a cause, or even a specific trigger. In my case I started having sporadic joint problems in March of 97, then in August had some sort of infection that settled in my joints. By March 98 the joint problems were worse, but all of the blood tests were negative - in October I finally had a positive RA factor and a thumb swollen to twice its normal size. The infection may have been the trigger, but it wasn't an immediate thing. Now that I've lived with this for awhile, I know that stress can trigger flare ups....... Guest guest
I agree with Jacy that " triggered " is the more correct term but in common usage whatever triggers something is called the cause even if it is not the best term for it. > > From: " Jacy " <jacymail@...> > Date: 2004/06/06 Sun PM 09:36:39 GMT > <Rheumatoid Arthritis > > Subject: Causes of RA > > What bothers me about RA being " caused " by stress is that then some can, and > will, say, it is all in your head.
