Hi All,

I wanted to first say a HUGE thank you for this group. It is so nice

to know others are living through the same things we are, I have felt

very alone in this. We have 4 kids ages 8,7,3, and 2 and we

homeschool.

My 8 y.o. daughter, Lucy, was diagnosed with OCD (contamination and

moral issues), Separation Anxiety and Social Anxiety Disorders 1 1/2

years ago. We were overseas at the time and had NO help so we moved

back to the states 3 months ago to tackle the OCD monster.

We have been in therapy for 3 months, and the therpist and ourselves

both agreed it is time for meds. Life has come to a halt in many

ways, so I am excited about our appt. Tuesday with the psychiatrist.

Our therapist (whom I really like, as does Lucy) said Lucy would only

need 6 more sessions or so!??? I thought that was strange, but

haven't questioned her on it as we are taking a little break while

getting the meds started.

" Normally " , I would think therapy would continue for awhile after

meds started, am I wrong? I hate to find a new therapist, this one

is trained in CBT, though Lucy is not even close to being ready for

any exposure or CBT.

Also, tantrums are already such an issue, anyone think Zoloft would

be preferable over Prozac (that seems to trigger more tantrums...?)I

know that's a hard thing to give advice on, it so personal, just

wondering.

Thank you!

Amy in No.VA
