Yes, get a lawyer...to best represent yourself.

Good luck.

I didn't have any problem with my SSDI - I will say a pray for you.

I have a " lot " of things wrong with me too....they gave it to me right

off...I live in PA if that makes it any difference...I wish you the best!

Subject: Anyone with Soc Sec Disabily exp.?

ANYONE, I have my SSDI hearing in 24 days. Any helpful suggestions?

I have RA, inflammatory arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis,

Osteopenia (bone density loss), Steroid dependent Asthma related to

RA (possibly Vasculitis), numb feet, Major Depression reoccurrence,

Generalized Anxiety Disorder, High blood pressure and accelerated

heart rate (from the steroid dependence) and severe sleepapnia. My

Rheumy is an arrogant idiot, I absolutely hate him, I've been trying

to change to another but couldn't get an appointment for months out.

He doesn't listen and when he asks how I am or my pain levels, I

tell him and he contradicts me telling me " Well, my other

patients...blah blah "

Any suggestions on what I should highlight, bring to attention,

etc. would be GREATLY appreciated. Oh..and I have an average of 20+

Dr. appointments a month with 14 prescriptions

I think your best bet is to do some research to find out who the best

and most respected rheumy in the area you are willing to travel to

is. Then get a referral and make the appointment and wait until you

see him.

In the meantime you stick with the one you've got so you will at

least get some care and get through your hearing with a doctor's

opinion.

You could consider finding out by seeing if anyone on the list has

referrals, or picking the largest most reputable teaching hospital or

university near you, getting the names of the RA doctors and looking

on medline or pub med to see if they publish. The research doctors

are more leading edge.

You could also go to or sign up for an Arthritis Society function

near you and try to get a few opinions from other patients. There

are some great doctors out there and you have to find a really good

one who you can trust.

Hi, I am on Long Term SSDisability.. I was denied twice and was about

to give up and my worker says to me..No, you are going to appeal this

and she helped me through it..The next letter I got was You're

Accepted " .

She told me that in most cases they'll deny you because they feel

you will give up and forget it...It's very important that you stick

in there and fight them all the way...The denials are all part of the

Red Tape.

Here are very important issues you need to point out to them:

They want to hear that you have problems with the daily things,, like

bathing yourself, cleaning your home, cooking meals, getting out to

get groceries, problems walking without a device...cane, walker, etc.

I was stupid enough to tell them I could walk a couple of blocks

without sitting down to rest and they gave me a hard time on that

one, my doctor ended up agruing with them on the phone and putting

them in their place...There is about one day a month that I feel

almost normal again..I don't know why but, I think it may be that I

finally got a rested sleep or something...For me, if I could only get

normal sleep It would make a big difference in how I handle this

disease...

good luck to you....AND HANG IN THERE!

Patsy
