Guest guest
I do research on such as this at work. It has known adverse health effects, and some react to it. But I don't know how much effect one time would do. Would something like Kava be an alternative? Bernie
Guest guest
Can anyone give me some formal references for the negative nitrous oxide impact on our children and the why. There's an anesthesia person in our area that is actually interested!!

Guest guest
> Has anyone seen or heard of regression after nitrous oxide. > Todd Yes -- nitrous oxide is usually contraindicated in mercury-toxic kids. Nitrous oxide has been discussed on the listserv. One post stated that NO depletes cobalamin (B-12), which in our kids is already low. Another post advised checking methionine before giving nitrous oxide. I found a 2003 Reuters story, " Nitrous Oxide Anesthesia Implicated in Death of Child With MTHFR Deficiency. " You can search for old posts using the Onibasu search engine. http://onibasu.com/ Click the box for " , " then type " nitrous oxide " into the rectangle and tap your " enter " key. http://onibasu.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi? query=nitrous+oxide & submit=Search%21 & max=20 & sort=score & idxname=am Hokkanen Minneapolis

Guest guest
Kate, I am a DD and I use nitrous oxide everytime I go to the dentist and have had no issues whatsoever. Then again, I weigh about 145 lbs (66 kg). If your friend is less than 100 lbs (45 kg), she might want to be careful and have the dentist bring the concentration up slowly. FYI Randy______ > > Hi. Guest guest
I had 6 teeth pulled a while back. 3 Wisdom teeth and 3 other teeth to make room for the braces to push the teeth all into place. I used no gas - and that was my choice.. and everything went just fine. They obviously gave me the shots in my gums to deaden the areas, but I didn't really see the need for the gas.. Guest guest
Nitrous oxide or laughing gas should be avoided at all times. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. Guest guest
Nitrous oxide, if used too frequently, can cause B12 deficiency. But it's probably safe enough for CMTers to use when they go to the dentist. Guest guest
Dear Beau, Glad you are doing so well and that you seem to have licked myeloma because of frequent BMAs. I agree, they are not exactly comfortable. Your mentioning nitrous oxide (N20) brought back memories - it is called laughing gas here. It reminded me of my old dentist, whom I am sure was laid to rest some time ago, as I am ancient myself. He used the N20 while drilling my teeth and sang to me the whole time. I didn't have the heart to tell him he couldn't sing, but he was so nice, I didn't have the courage to tell him he couldn't carry a tune in a paper bag. LOL MDACC uses local lidocane and the techs are highly trained and I would put them up against the doctors who were supposed to be proficient. We have members who claim that their doctors are the best and I have no doubt that for them, they are and I would not dispute that. Truth be told, however, most do few BMAs and BMBs, as opposed to the techs and nurses who do it all day, as many as 15 each per day, so they are very good at what they do. As Bobby Doyle will tell you as our paths are so similiar, as long as we are in a trial, we are obligated to have a BMA every 3 months for the first year and then graduate to every 6 months. I just had my 49th BMA/BMB last week. I would love to have a BMA only once a year, but they say that is the only way they can see where your disease is - from the marrow itself. I wish there were another way to do it from peripheral blood and I have read that there is, but it is not done at MDACC, nor do I know how accurate it is versus a BMA. All I can state is what happened to me in my experience. My right side seems to be more sensitive (it is still sore from 2/7), so I always elect to have it done on my left side. This woman (whom I have another name for her) decided it was time for a change and that I should have it on my right side. Being in my 6th trial is the reason for so many BMAs. Bad choice for that woman, and I think she is sorry she ever met me. LOL I was wondering how many beers it took Shelagh to " get over it " . No pubs around MDACC and I don't drink beer, but like a good German white wine - that will do nicely. Carpe Diem, Lottie Duthu
