Guest guest
Very intersting. This says much the same as the French study I heard about at a recent CML conference. The big question is: will one have the courage to take the chance of discontinuing imatinib? They say they can arrest the disease if it comes back but it's a bit dodgy isn't it? I think I might be eligible for this trial but will wait until I'm asked! It would be lovely to be rid of side effects but I don't wanna die just yet. What do other people think? Is there anyone else who thinks they might be able to do away with the meds? Guest guest
Hi All. My daughter, Robyn, is PCRU and does continue to suffer from the side effects of Gleevec. However, she would not go in to the trial to eliminate Gleevec. She is too afraid of getting out of PCRU and possibly developing a resistance to the Gleevec when reintroduced -if need be. So, she will continue to suffer the side-effects. However, they seem to have lessened somewhat or she is getting used to it. Guest guest
Hi Sandi, Based on the STIM trial results, there is little chance that she will become resistant to Gleevec. My concern is her QOL. There are several other TKIs that work as well as Gleevec without nasty sided effects. I would question her doctor as to why he hasn't tried any of them. It may be time to get a second opinion from a CML specialist.
