Dear Friends,

I’m sincerely asking your support for a group of Anishinabe who are walking

from the Four Directions to bring awareness about the wound that we, as humans

are bringing to all living things on Turtle Island continent. Please go to the

website www.motherearthwaterwalk.com  and if this story touches your heart as

it has mine, consider supporting these elders with a monetary gift and by

forwarding this message to your email list.

Sharon Day, an Ojibwe environmental activist and grandmother, will walk with a

group of dedicated youth to bring healing salt water from the south at Gulf

Port, Mississippi. Their walk will begin on April 20th, to commemorate the BP

Oil Spill in the Gulf.  As she and others walk north they will crisscross the

endangered Mississippi River many times. They expect the walk to take about 40

days to reach Lake Superior at Ashland, Wisconsin, a total of 1,439 miles.

Sharon dedicates herself to this arduous walk so others may understand-- 1)

always foremost with her, are the youth who will be educated about the

importance of saving the environment as they will likely become the first

generation forced to raise their families with a shortage of clean water; and 2)

just as important, the general public who haven’t yet comprehended the urgency

of this pending ecological tragedy.

Sharon and her group genuinely need help to make this happen.  Individuals and

groups are encouraged to join the walk at any place along the route. Donations

of food, shelter and fuel to support the walkers are needed. Tax deductible cash

donations can be made directly at www.indigenouspeoplestf.org

Thanks for taking time to look further into this issue. Please feel free to

contact Sharon Day personally at smarieday@... if you would like to talk

about how you and others can help.

Don’t forget to send this message to your email and Facebook lists!
