Guest guest
, jesse also has jaw pain and will refuse to eat because it hurts so much and he can't seem to loose his baby teeth like other kids do so he ends up having his adult teeth grow in behind the baby teeth. Guest guest
, I also have jaw pain, mostly when I lay down also. i can always tell when the weather is going to change because I get a sharp stabbing pain in my jaw/ear area. I wear a mouth splint at night or when I take naps and it really helps. My HMO sent me to an orthodontist for it. Guest guest
, I also have jaw pain. this is a new development for me. It started about a week or two ago. Barb, I appreciate this info that you sent also. I will be seeing my doctor again next week and will have to check into this. I also am having a hard time sleeping due to the jaw pain and shoulder pain. (this weather we are having lately sure doesn't help any) P ---- Original Message ----- From: Kendall <bbkendall@...> < egroups> Sent: Saturday, April 15, 2000 9:01 PM Subject: Re: [ ] jaw pain , I also have jaw pain, mostly when I lay down also. i can always tell when the weather is going to change because I get a sharp stabbing pain in my jaw/ear area. Guest guest
, I know you've already gotten a lot of response to this email, but I thought I'd share my experience. In my 14 years of RA, I've had recurrent jaw problems that have come and gone through the years. It can be *very* painful and cause severe headaches. Like , my jaw has " locked " to the point I could only open wide enough to get a straw through and could not close far enough to bite down. So, basically, I couldn't move my mouth at all. This has occurred probably 8-10 times through the years. Each time, I have either required a steroid dose-pack (which meant I couldn't eat for a few days until it kicked in) or, preferably, had an injection right into the joint. It was a little painful, but not as bad as the jaw pain without it! In my experience, very few rheumatologists will do this procedure. They either referred me to an orthopedist or to an oral surgeon with experience in jaw problems. In the early years of jaw problems, the doctors thought a mouth splint that I wore at night would help, but in my opinion it made things worse because by morning my jaw was so set that when I took out the splint, I could not bite down all the way. It took a couple hours to reach the point that I could bite down. Anyway, hope this helps, but you are not crazy. It probably is related to the RA. Guest guest
I want to thank everyone for all this talk on jaw pain (sarcasm.) I haven't had jaw pain in weeks and after all this talk on jaw pain, I woke up this morning with my left jaw stiff. After attending that seminar on the mind/body connection, I guess I took it too far. Just talking about jaw pain made mine hurt! LOL Anyway, this is all just a little bit of " lack of sleep " humor. I'm not *really* blaming anybody. Just thought I'd make that clear. Hope everyone is having a good day. My jaw has not locked, it just hurts. I think I have had this for awhile but didn't realize it. It is not a constant pain mostly when I lay down, I really thought it was my ear. Once I took the time to try and focus on it, it realized it is not my ear at all. I will ask the Rheumy about it when I see him. I really hope it is not another big problem. I just try not to let this get to me, but it seems all these little problems like jaw, hip, and feet things are all kicking in at once. Thank You, I appreciate any advice anyone can give me. It is a comfort when you all try to help. Have a good day today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get paid for the stuff you know! Guest guest
I don't know that much about it but it may be TMJ pain that I think is sometimes caused by arthritis. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/articles/14227-2.asp I sometimes get jaw pain that can be severe for a few days but then goes away so I don't even notice it. I have no idea why it comes or why it goes. God bless. > > From: <blair.family@...> > Date: 2004/06/01 Tue AM 12:56:31 GMT > <Rheumatoid Arthritis > > Subject: Jaw Pain > > Hi folks, > > I got up this morning, started eating my breakfast and realized that I had severe jaw pain where my top and bottom teeth come together. Guest guest
It can be RA. Another possibility is TMJ. Hugs, Jacy ~Forgive us this day our daily fallacy, and forgive my theology as I forgive the theology of others. -----Original Message-----From: blair.family@... Guest guest
, Yes, it has a lot to do with RA. I had that problem a while also but it went away. My jaw actually made a noise when I would try to chew! Hopefully it will be temporary for you... Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: blair.family@... Guest guest
Thanks, everyone, for your replies. The jaw pain is already easing up. It was bizarre the way it came. There was no building up to it. I just woke up and it was extremely painful. I hope it doesn't come back!! )
Guest guest
I am not sure why, Diane, but I think your message to the loop only came to me. I am forwarding it on to all so others can comment. By the way, you are describing my pain. I'll be interested in hearing if others have experienced the same thing. ) ----- Original Message ----- From: " readerfour " <diane4books@...> <blair.family@...> Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 10:31 AM Subject: Re: Jaw Pain > --- I know I'm late to be posting on this but it really hit home. Guest guest
do you mean that ringing in the ears has a TMJ connection? I never thought of that - just assumed it was drugs.
