Guest guest
Hello, You would not believe what helped me. I was extremely ill after a surgical procedure. My home health care nurse had me use a sugar free Metamucil. I thought she was nuts, but the fiber absorbes the extra liquid and it stops the diarrhea. She said not to use it too much so you are constipated. But use your own judgement. I did it every other day. Worked for me, I would have never thought of it. Connie, MI PS. Also did Diflucan, Acidophilus, ect. But was too ill to stop antibiotics. I had a pseudamonous (sp) infection.
Guest guest
Hi all, I've been on and off this list for a while now and am hoping some of you can help. My mother in law has been so sick for about year with " irritable bowel syndrome " She has agreed to try a parasite cleanse, but she has a concern because her main symptom is diarrhea, which she has constantly, and she is worried that these cleanses will make her diarrhea worse. Also she says she can't tolerate most medicines. How do I appease her on this? It is true that Paragone, which she was thinking of trying , will make you go to the bathroom. Maybe she should take straight cloves, walnut hull and wormwood instead. Any ideas? I dont want her to get discouraged and quit. Thanks a lot. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Me and my whole family are using paragone. For the first 3 days on the program, it seemed we were all a little constipated, but not bad. After that there was regular BM, some a little loose, but no diarrhea. Diarrhea is not good in any cleanse as it causes you to loose minerals. If she does get a little diarrhea, tell her to cut the dosage in half for a few days then increase. Hope this helps, Sherry Re: diarrhea > > > > Hi all, I've been on and off this list for a while now and am hoping some of > you can help. Guest guest
A therapist I know says he has had clients with IBS for many years that when they went on Sonne's products, like pysillium and bentonite the IBS cleared up very quickly. I know an elderly lady literally dying of diarrhea and stomache upsets that was cured with Kombucha, which for some actually starts the bowels moving. Whatever you do to clean and strengthen the colon and intestinal tract helps with REGULATING them. Thus IBS can be eliminated just as constipation. There is a wonderful product called perfect 7 from sonne which also contains herbs which help with colon cleanses. It has the pysillium and bentonite together. You can learn more about Kombucha on the kombucha list at egroups. Kris Smart is believing only half of what you hear, brilliant is knowing which half to believe. Atlantic1@... Guest guest
Hi Sara, your littermate from the 16th here. I also had that problem, and I called Dana about it because it kept me up one nite. She said that happens around 2 wks out, and said just take a little more citrucel, and if that didnt work, it didnt hurt too much to take some immodium if needed to help it. I still have days when I have it. It just seems to come and go. , post op 10/16 284/261 ========Original Message======== Subj: Diarrhea Date: 11-5-02 8:55:32 AM Eastern Standard Time From: ssdsgo@... Reply-to: MiniGastricBypass@..., Hi, I wonder if you all have any suggestions related to diarrhea. I'll be 3 weeks post-op on Wed. 11/6. I'm still on just fluids, yogurt, and required medications. I had added several supplements, i.e., bran tablets and glutamine and seemed to be doing OK until late last week. I started some whey protein and started having diarrhea. I backed of the whey protein but the diarrhea continued. I'm now back down to the fluids, yogurt and required medications and still having diarrhea. I'm trying to stay on liquids for at least one month. Do you all have any suggestions? Is this a sign my body needs to go to Stage II? Also, have you all found that starting shakes/supplements in a particular order helps, such as protein shakes for a while, then bran, then glutamine, etc. Finally, have you all found that the order in which you take things matters, such citrucel first, then pills, then fluids, etc. I'm baffled about this as I didn't have any diarrhea until last week. Thanks for any advise you can provide. Sara Surg. 10/16/
Guest guest
Hi Sara, I had my surgery 10/15 and I find that if I don't have the citrucel first in the morning before I eat anything else I, too, am bothered with diarrhea. I used to mix it with yogurt but I got to the point where I couldn't face the yogurt in the morning so now I mix it with orange Gatorade. The one day I didn't have the Citrucel first I couldn't leave the house all day. Hope this is helpful. Doris
Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the information--looks like your are loosing really well. Guest guest
, thanks for your feedback. I'm taking 1 tsp. of Citrucel 4X/day (twice what's recommended in the manual). Should I increase to more than this? Will increase the Pepto Bismol. Thanks! Sara

Guest guest
Doris, thanks for your feedback. I'm mixing it in yogurt and still doing OK with it but am printing your response in case I need a change later. Thanks! Sara
Guest guest
thanks! I was either taking too much salt, not enough fluid, or the bran or a combination. I backed off on salt, took additional Gatorade, stopped the bran, and when I added protein shakes, everything cleared up. I've tried 3 brands of protein shakes (powder), and just don't tolerate it. But doing great now. Again, thanks! Sara
Guest guest
Sara... Do you do the protein shakes or not, or dont you tolerate them? Just curious. Guest guest
Hi Gang My 2 cents I still get diarrhea from ice cream, soup, milk shakes, anything soft or liquid like that. usually within 1 half hour For what it's worth. MGB was 01/02/01 Almost 23 months out. Regards, TommyB Re: Diarrhea > Sara... Do you do the protein shakes or not, or dont you tolerate them? Just > curious. Guest guest
>>> I recently started my 2-year old daughter on Peptizide, and she has been having very loose stools each day since. I stopped it two days ago, but the diarrhea is still there. It is not listed as a side effect. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Yes, loose stools are a common side-effect of any enzyme because the body is adjusting to more water and more food being processed. Each food bond broken releases a molecule of water. One of my son's had loose stools for a few days. There might be a delay because it can take a couple of days for the stool to transit through the intestines. It should stop very shortly. If it persists a few more days please write back. At least you know the enzymes were breaking food down! .
Guest guest
My 2 year old son has been on enzymes (Kirkman) for 3 weeks. For the past 5 days, he has had very loose stools that are black, sticky and seem to have sandy grit in them. The grit is hard to wipe off. Also, BM's have been only every other day, not every day. Any ideas on what the grit is? Pam
Guest guest
pep can alter the stomach flora in a helpful way but if there was yeast or something...... oreganol seems to be selective against yeast but a mineral regieme of non selenite selenium and zinc also seems to be strongly anti fungal > I recently started my 2-year old daughter on Peptizide, and she has > been having very loose stools each day since. Guest guest
You may see increased urination for a short time as well. I remember one particular afternoon my daughter peed every half hour for a few hours! It, too evens out though. Just be prepared :-) --- In , " jornmatt <kjorn@t...> " <kjorn@t...> wrote: > >>> I recently started my 2-year old daughter on Peptizide, and she > has been having very loose stools each day since. For the past 5 days, he has had very loose stools that are black, sticky and seem to have sandy grit in them. The grit is hard to wipe off. Also, BM's have been only every other day, not every day. Any ideas on what the grit is? Depending on a few other things, this sounds like a bowel impaction, and the enzymes are trying to help with it but not being entirely successful. The black sticky stuff would be pieces of the impaction which are pulled off by new bm which is slipping past the impaction. The entire mess comes out as loose bm with sticky black grains, but the impaction remains. BM would come either frequently, or not very often at all. If the sandy grit is black, it is more of the same, or possibly also yeast or bacteria. If the sandy grit is white, it can be pears, rice, or a few other things. If it is an impaction, you need to get it out. Talk to your child's doctor. Dana

Guest guest
Janet, I get diarrhea from fatty foods....I know other people with arthritis that get this too. Could it be that the high protein foods (such as meats) are also high in fat? I can hardly eat anything with more than 25-30% fat during one meal or it sets it off. Carbs don't seem to bother me if I keep the fat content to a minimum. My meals are quite boring to say the least....but at least my stomach feels better. Debra! Guest guest
Hi Debra, My doctor (Gastro) confirmed the diarrhea was due to not being able to absorb fat. Hi fat foods, as you said make it worse. Had a Barium GI which confirmed I wasn't able to absorb and process fat. Can't remember the name of the meds he gave it. It worked, but for that episode. It came back here and there because O food I ate, or stress! Janet
Guest guest
Hi and , My kids had GI problems with GfCf as well. We are just getting started on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD), (so I'm by no means an expert!), but you may want to look into it. The websites and list for SCD have had discussions on why SCD might be better for some of the kids who have trouble with the amount of grain/sugars in the GfCf diet. www.pecanbread.com and a group " pecanbread " would be good places to start reading. Also, the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall. Chelation, while necessary, can also cause increased yeast/bad gut bugs to flare. Are you chelating yet? Good luck!!!! Lissy (also in the Twin Cities) [ ] Diarrhea Our 3 year old son was recently diagnosed with autism and we implemented the gluten free casein free diet about 3 months ago. Things were going great for awhile, but just within the last 2 weeks he has been battling daily diarrhea and stomach cramps. We think it may be soy intolerance (yougurt he eats) or sodium nitrate intolerance (Hebrew National hot dogs that he eats). My wife and I being new to a GFCF diet, just don't know what to do. ANY help out there would be greatly appreciated! ny and in Minneapolis-St. MN area =======================================================
