Guest guest
I take 2 citrucel pills in the morning and 2 at night. I forgot to take them yesterday and had diarrhea this morning, this after nearly 2 years. The fiber is a lifelong thing Diarrhea Hi, I'm less than 2 months out but still have constant diarrhea. What I eat does not seem to affect it much. I am taking probiotics, yogurt, and FOS all of which should help to restore my healthy gut composition. Also taking fiber supplements and digestive enzymes. Any other ideas out there? Have others had this problem? Thanks, Sharon

I also have had a really bad diarhea every day since starting on the program. I do think it's a positive sign of detoxing but it's also a bit tough to handle. My diarheea is totally like water, it's like a " natural enema " lol. Then on my good days it's just extremely soft stool. I think for me it might be a re-tracing issue aswell. I've had a milder form of diarhea for the last year, every day, caused by stress or candida or whatever. So I think my body has a weakness here and that's partly why I've seen it get so much worse. But I'm optimistic and hoping it will resolve itself in a month or so. I have tried everything that's suggested in the Files archives. But nothing seems to be able to effect it the slightest. It's possible that my body needs to go through this. I sometimes think that it's better to let the body have as much diarheea as it needs to. It's probably smarter than I am. lol. Also, it's not all day long, only in the mornings and then it's over with. Perhaps it is more beneficial to let the body do it's thing than trying to do all in my power to stop it? What do you think Bee? Also, as I'm only about 3-4 weeks in on this program I'm still not taking all the supplements because; 1, Some haven't arrive yet. 2, It'll take me a while to get used to the full dosage. I'm taking the C-vitamin (including calcium), cod liver oil, Magnesium. That's it for now. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. You might try cutting back on vitamin C and only gradually increase to see if that helps. If vitamin C is increased too quickly it can cause loose stools. But then you need to get calcium from another source. Luv, Bee

I hope he feels better soon. Jecca My husband suddenly has horrible diarrhea. Since he is on the diet (not on all the supplements yet) I assume it is detox or die off. However he has gone probably 8 times in the last hour. Is there something he can do to help with the discomfort and to prevent dehydration. He is miserable and is ready to take imodium. Guest guest
Happened to my wife yesterday... happens to all of us in the beginning as our bodies adjust, I'm sure! If he's on coconut oil already, have him lower it for a day, or skip taking it with a meal or two. If he's taking magnesium already, have him not take it one night before bed. Maybe he ate too much fat for one meal... But, maybe his body is actually doing a good thing, and getting rid of something that needs to be gotten rid of! I've noticed when it's happened to me in the beginning of this diet, it resolves itself pretty quickly. It happens to me if I eat a large amount of fat during a meal, and I'm not used to it yet. Or if I eat 1 tablespoon of yummy coconut oil instead of the teaspoon I should be taking. > > My husband suddenly has horrible diarrhea. Guest guest
That is the crazy thing about my husband. He isn't taking anything. I started him on supplements and they made him really nauseous so we stopped those and I am working up to them slowly. I started him with garlic tea, at 1/2 clove per day in the evening but he didn't even have any of that yesterday. Both of us are astonished at how his body is responding to this. It is possible that he had too much butter. But anyway, whatever it was seems to have passed and he is much better this morning. I think it was just his body responding. Guest guest
Hi Irene, Sorry to hear about your husband discomfort. Here's the suggestions Bee has given in the past hope you'll find them useful. Maddalena ==>To help your diarrhea, try to only have a liquid diet plus eggs, i.e. Bee's raw egg drink, broths, and teas, and also cut back on fats for a couple of days. To the egg drink add 1 tsp. cinnamon, a pinch of ground clove, a pinch of ground ginger, 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg, which also helps diarrhea. ==>be sure to have the lemon juice (or use lime juice) and ocean sea salt in water (lemon or lime juice are very helpful for diarrhea & the sea salt contains minerals that are much needed to replace your electrolytes). ==>There are a number of herbal teas that also help diarrhea, including chamomile, caraway seed, and blackberry leaf or root (root is best if you can get it). Drink 3-5 cups per day. ==>Ginger is excellent as well. Add one teaspoonful of powdered ginger root (or finely grate ginger root) to one cup of boiling water. Drink three cups a day. This is especially good for cramps or abdominal pain. ==>The combination of cinnamon and cayenne pepper are very effective in tightening the bowels. Make a tea by adding 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/8 teaspoonful of cayenne pepper to two cups of boiling water. Let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes; cool; drink 1/4 cup every half hour. ==>Make peppermint tea and add two tablespoons of fresh onion juice (made from a grated onion squeezed through cheesecloth); take a cup hourly. irene.m@... wrote: My husband suddenly has horrible diarrhea. Diarrhea is the body's way of getting rid of toxins, so it is not a bad thing to have happen. Also, if he had diarrhea in the past the body will re-trace those episodes during natural healing. Like others suggested see the C) Digestion Folder for help. Above all do not suppress the symptoms. Bee
Guest guest
Hi - I'm realy sorry you're ill! There is nothing about the band that can cause diarrhea. all we eat and drink is absorbed normally. occasionally, people have loose stools for a few days when they are on clear liquidster surgery, but that goes away quickly, and never is a severe as you describe. Something medical is going on in your gut, that is making it impossible to re-absorb liquid - so your stools are watery and full of acid. this is usually a bowel infection of some sort. Have you been on any recent antibiotics? they can also cause transient loose stools, byut should never be as bad as you describe. What about any hiking and drinking from streams or rivers, or aqny outside, untreated water source? Giardia is also a possibility. I'm glad the doc did a C. difficile culture, as that is always a suspect, especially when people have other medical problems. A couple things to do now, while you await the culture and test results: 1. Vaseline is a good skin protectant, and cheap. a good slathering around your rectal area will keep the cautic acid inthe stool from hurting your skin. you don't need any more problems! 2. Be sure to drink lots of liquids to make up for all the fluids you're losing from the diarrhea. water is not enough, as you're losing electrolytes (potassium , sodium, chloride, and othrs that are not in water). Something like gatorade is better, but your doc may want you on a special fluid if your potassium is alreay low - ask her. 3. these things help reverse diarrhea, nd may help ven your sever diarrhea - and will not HURT. a. rice water - boil rice in a lot of water, and drink that. The starch and other things in the rice help rverse the diarrhea. b. applesauce - the pectin in it also helps reverse diarrhea. c. NO apple juice - this increases diarrhea d. avoid cirrus and acid-y things. your poor gut doesn't need acids right now. for this reason also, stop any vits or vit c for nowa-also an acid. e. rice itself is helpful - if you can normally tolerate it. f. usually, dry toiast is also on the anti-diarrhea diet, but , a a bandster, i would NOT use this. If you have kids, you may recognize thi diet as the " B.R.A.T. " diet to reduce diahhea. It also helps adults. g. Be VERY careful with meds- be certain all are either cut up small or a liquid. your entire gut is very irritated right now, and you don'r need stoma problems too. The flagyl is large, so be sure you cut it in small pieces. You'll ill, so don't be too hard on yourself. Hangaround teh house and take good care of yourself, while they decide what is wronmg and how to treat it. Hope you're well again VERY soon1 Sandy r > > > > > Has anyone else experienced diarrhea after lap band? I have been banded > since July 07. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, thank you for your response. No recent antibiotics, other than the flagyl which I started yesterday for the diarrhea. No hiking or drinking water from streams or anything of the sort. I did go and get soem baby wipes and desitin and some diapers. So, I am all set up as far as that goes because my bottom was sore!! The nurse did call me today and said so far my bloodwork is good, as I said before. The H Pylori is negative, the only thing suspect is my potassium and my liver enzymes are increased. My potassium is low, so they chose to put me on potassium pills which I will pick up in a bit. -- Re: Diarrhea Hi - I'm realy sorry you're ill! Hangaround teh house and take good care of yourself, while they decide what is wronmg and how to treat it. Hope you're well again VERY soon1 Sandy r > > > > > Has anyone else experienced diarrhea after lap band? I have been banded > since July 07. Guest guest
Freda, So far, so good then! Let's see what the rest of thr tests show. the potassium pills are huge, so a liquid would better, but at leaat crush thtablets up and put in a tsp of applesauce or yogurt. The disitin is fine - based on fish oil - and will help. sure hope this is over for you soon! sandy > > > > > > > > > > Has anyone else experienced diarrhea after lap band? My brother had Crohn's disease, which is constant diarrhea, for over 20 years. He started my program 2 years ago in June. His diarrhea finally stopped after being on my program 20 months. So again, this proves that natural healing takes 1 month for every year you've been unwell. Bee
