Dear all,

Today my doctor told me to reduce my glivec from 400mg to 300mg, what does it

mean? Is it because of my plateletes which I reported as low as 84. Or is it

because of my insistent low pcv, ranging from 28-29. With Hb being 3.4. It is

mix blessing for me.

Could somebody tell me something, please I have been on glivec for a year. The

only real side effect is the colouring of the skin. Is it also a sign of better

days ahead?

low. I think most of us have low hemoglobin. Mine is about 9.2, too high for a

blood transfusion, but I have had many of those. Hemocratit is also low. I

would not worry about the platelets unless they drop below 50. Mine went down

to 30. Skip can tell you his is sometimes even lower. It's amazing how the

body compensates where one thing is low, something else is high.

the nurse wanted me to go to the hospital. I also have very high potassium

counts and the doctor said with the combination of all 3, I could drop dead at

any time.

>YOu are welcome to post your results any time or discuss anything, you will

always have someone who has had it before you, and can comment on what their

experience was. No matter where you live, or skin color or ethnic origin, it is

all CML and we suffer the same problems around the world and we try and help

each other understand what we are up against and what we can do and how to

educate ourselves, so that you can bring up these problems to your doctor. My

white blood count has gone down to 1.0 and the next week it was back up to 2.0.

It doesn't mean it will stay that way that is why we have frequent blood tests.

I hope you have a good, understanding doctor and a wife who attempts to

understand it as well. My husband does not understand or remember everything

that I tell him, but he looks at my WBC results every week and knows when I am

in trouble. He even understands my mood swings and can tell in my face whether

I am having a good or bad day.

We are here for you if you have any questions.
