I must admit that I don't believe a person's attitude is powerful enough to ward

off illnesses or cure them either but I do believe that a person's attitude can

have a huge effect on the people around them.

I've known some very negative people in my life and I'll tell you, it's not only

depressing to be around them but listening to their negativity totally drains me

emotionally as well.

I don't ever want to be a burden on anyone, not medically and not emotionally

either. Unfortunately I have little control over how many doctor's appointments

I need to attend, or tests I need to go for but I do have control over how much

of my attitude I burden my loved ones with.

There will always be something to complain about. People don't need to have CML

to be an emotional burden to others. Some find the political situation a drag,

others find the weather a constant source of stress, still others can't find

anything good to say about anything at all. I personally don't like to be

around these people and I don't want others to think of me as a burden to be

around so I made the decision to be as happy as I can with what I have.

I'll never be a runway model but I'm happy knowing that I could be a whole lot

homelier than I am, I'll never be a millionaire but I'm happy that all my needs

are met, and I'll never be cured of CML but I'm happy that I can function with

it and watch my family grow.

When I leave a room of people, I want to leave them looking forward to my

return, not have them dread it. I want people to laugh and enjoy their

interactions with me, not feel the way they do when they have a root canal.

Enjoying what we have in life is a choice that only we can make, everyone around

us however, must live with the consequences of our choices.

I'm right there with you, . I do not know a sporting event that has been

won with a negative attitude. Life is a tough journey and we must believe that

we can overcome whatever comes our way. If we don't think we can we won't.

Remember the children's book " The little engine " , " I think I can - I think I

can " .
