Guest guest
Congratulations to our friend, Sue Hurt for her 2 honors for being presented with being the winner of the Premiers Award for Active Citizenship 2011 and the City of Swan's Premier Australia Day Active Citizenship award for the same time period. We all knew she was a human dynamo when she began raising money for LLS in ways no one had thought of before. The whole town was involved and it caught on, thanks to all her hard work and imagination. No one knows what we are capable of doing until we make up our minds to do it. I'm sure the spirit of the moment will grow each year and earn more money for Leukemia Research. Thanks Sue, I hope you have a prominent place to display your awards. I don't suppose your area is that much different from our midwest where small towns get together and do great things, all pulling together. Can't wait to see what you will do next year!!!!!! Go Sue, Carpe Diem (she does this every day), Lottie Duthu
Guest guest
Thanks Lottie Small Towns and Communities - Very much so Lottie Small communities do wonderful things to the benefit of others. They step up. I have a saying that just is fact. That it is not how many roof tops you have that makes a strong community, is how they communicate and unite is that is its communities strength. Get to know your neighbours everyone, you will be rewarded over and over in ways you never knew possible. I have been thinking of different things to do for this year plus my soup kitchen and cooking classes. I actually thought of a community edible garden. People pay for allottments, grow vegetables, herbs etc, and have community buy from them and also some of the veges to my soup kitchen. Cooking classes with vegetables on the allottments. Would be a community challenge. I could have workshops on all sorts of things, with monies going to the Leuk Foundation. It would be an ongoing project. A fellow I met recently thru my best male friend (another elite Ironman Triathlete who competed in Kona, has ran at Olympics and is a Physically Challenged Elite. Has one arm. A friend of his Multiple Myeloma. Terrible condition. Thank goodness I have CML. He and a friend are riding motorbikes across Australia (no mean feat I can tell you) and spreading the word of the Leukaemia Foundation and fund raising at the same time. Another Australian from Tasmania Ms Deborah De Witt and her dog Maggie (they have their own website and on facebook) are running around Australia and on the homeward leg. She has breast cancer and is also an elite athlete. Now I do not run marathons, ride motorbikes, an elite world champion ironman triathlete; or have one arm. Just CML and a person who has a soup kitchen. So does anyone have any good ideas you can share that I can get fund raising dollars to the LF. The above people are just awe inspiring Sue #1197 __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5823 (20110127) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
