Random Parking Lots Salespersons

Something happened today that brought home to me that we need to be aware of our

surroundings and when you see something out of place, we need to be reactive.

One day my husband was in the driveway when a man from Jamica walked up to him

to sell him a cleaning product. He said it was so safe he took a swig of it.

(What he drank was probably tea.) He bought it and it was a very good cleaning

product. Today he was cleaning floor tile and ran out and asked me to look for

it on the internet. I began my search and saw that their website had been taken

down and in looking further, I think it was the BBB who got involved and the

government because of false advertising, and fraud and not answering consumer's

complaints. The article further stated that these things go on in parking lots,

where you are approached to buy a product from a " college student " trying to

earn tuition money. There is usually a white van involved as they carry several

of the sales persons when they embark upon your neighborhood. The following is

just a snipit I copied from the website. I will post it here if you want to

read the entire article. Some of this may sound like something you encountered.

" As you pull into the parking lot of a neighborhood mall or store, you see some

enticing signs for “high quality” equipment, furniture, jewelry or artwork that

is displayed on the blacktop. The advertised prices are extremely low and worth

checking out, you decide. Think again, as you are about to get taken. "

I have been approached by young men while getting my hair shampooed in a salon

on my lunch hour. They were brazen enough to come into the judge's office and

all over the court house (a lot of gall), to sell anything to anyone. Maybe

some of the products are pretty good, but they are very expensive. I think the

bottle Jimmy bought was $33.95 and the contents were made from orange rind

extract. The market is flooded with such items, but I don't think they are

worth that much money. Last week, I had lost a cough drop in the carpet near my

bed and it became embedded, so I found the old bottle and used it to treat the

problem. It worked and I had left it out to look for other problem areas and

that is how Jimmy ran across it. Just thought I would express my warning with a

thumb down on even giving them the time of day, they are just out to make a fast

buck.
