Guest guest
Guess this is especially for Lotte. My cousin, Dona Dunn, was diagnosed on12/19/2000. She left a Dr.'s appt. with her blood work report in hand. He said cholesterol a bit high and to repeat it in two months. She drove straight over to Dr. Weil's place in Tucson as she was skeptical. He saw her (friend) and had her sit down. Told her he hated to break this to her, but he was sure she had leukemia. Also said repeat in 2 days, not 2 months just in case of error. She went up to Mayo in Phoenix for confirmation. That Dr. took her hand and said " I am so sorry. " Back in Tucson, she began a campaign to identify and enter any clinical trials. Guess Mayo had no idea any were in progress (or just decided not to mention it). It was a three month struggle but eventually was accepted at MDACC with Dr.Talpaz at beginning of April 2001. I used to write more to this list, but not a lot to say. There are only a couple of side effects mentioned here that she does not have. So, no QOL. Eyes and ears (tinnitus) about gone. Pain so severe. She does not go out at all except Dr. appts. Even her C-diff is permanent. Some of her side effects were a first for Dr. Cortes. Avis (Hertz Nurtle) Dona is #141 on Zavie's list
