Guest guest
I know that Jimmy has borderline glaucoma and has to be checked frequently and also has other eye problems, like retinal bleeding, so I found this article interesting. Since glaucoma is not uncommon, there are others who may be suffering from it. Here is some encouraging information about it. " Glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness, affects more than 4 million Americans, at least half of whom don’t even know they have the disease. Though the best-known symptom of glaucoma is elevated pressure inside the eye, blindness-inducing damage to retinal ganglion cells and the optic nerve can occur in patients with normal intraocular eye pressure. Earlier detection and treatment could therefore have a powerful impact on preventing blindness due to glaucoma. (Please have your eyes checked to see if you are a candidate for the disease, just have your eye pressure checked. If you are suspect, do it regularly. There are two types, wet and dry. Diabetics have wet and that can be cured with lasers, but not much they can do for the dry, except use Timoptic drops.) My great grandmother had it when she died and my uncle had it, so I'm not sure if it is an inherited disease, but if it can be prevented, please avail yourself of any medical treatment on your behalf.) " The research team, led by Simon W. M. , Ph.D., Laboratory professor and Medical Institute Investigator, reporting in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, demonstrated a groundbreaking approach to analyzing genomic data from mice that typically develop glaucoma. Using this new analysis, which " clusters " relevant data from special computer chips called microarrays, the researchers identified many molecular changes that occur very early, before detectable damage occurs. LOL This is war, Shelagh. She is now writing a tell all book about me, can you imagine that, I didn't think my life was that interesting, but maybe she will spice it up a bit and we can all enjoy it as fiction. LOL.
