Guest guest
Dixie If you are SSDI you do get a 9 month trial period. I am on SSDI also and have tried to work-I only have 3 months left on my trial period though. My doctors think I'm obsessed with going back to work! I hate being off work. Guest guest
Geri I know what you mean yearning to go back to work. I used to be a planner/estimator for Colwell General and I use to estimate for both our Indiana plant and our California plant and occassionally assist with projects being done down in Mexico. I have a 14 year background in printing so I would also get to do some traveling to do press checks in MI and Chicago and that was always fun-pick up a Blackhawks hockey game and make my son the goalie jealous. I know a lot of people are trying to get on disability. In my case, you know my history, it was a piece a cake for me-just apply and you got it. They even took me back 6 months. The company I work for was great but I just couldn't do it anymore. I was on and off work for over a year and then my doctor told me to apply and I just cried. But at work I could not remember the equations or I would be lost right in the middle of one! I could no longer comprehend verbal instructions for a re-estimate-I would just stand there and cry. Of course I was also under a lot of stress too-my now ex husband had gotten a friend of both of our pregnant and I was filing for a divorce! That was when I first discovered I had elevated liver enzymes-at that time I did not know of the liver disease. BUt now of course like you my biopsy said cirrhosis. It's amazing how much we deal with with this disease and how it plays havoc with our mind. Susie
Guest guest
Geri: They gave me pain pills last week in the ER but the last two nights I took two and it didn't help. Last night answering my e-mails I was in such pain. Going in for blood tests today so I going to ask about something or have them do something for me. Thrush is talked about alot. Can someone tell me about it? Sue AIH Wisconsin
Guest guest
Geri: I know about working, I have been in the rat race since I was 16 years old and I just don't know how to handle the change of not getting the 40 hour paycheck yet and I feel like an useless price of dog poop. Will be picking up things about SSI and etc just to get ahead of the game. I think if I didn't working, the house would be clean and the family could sit down and eat together We do that so seldom now a days. Guest guest
Actually you need to appeal first, 88% of those who appeal usually get on SSI. Those are SSI statistics. Guest guest
Sounds like the answer is yes. Is it just as hard as it is for example with people with the CFS diagnosis? Anyone know if people with things like MS, AIDS, etc. also have a hard to getting it or not? Just curious. For my interview the SS person said " Lyme disease, that's IT?? That's what you want SS for??? " SO, I threw out the other 500 diagnoses I received. They insist that the diagnosis is not what matters, that they only look at the level of how it affect the individual. But, I wont go on rambling about what a load of crap that is in my experience. So anyway, can't win either way, whether they " know " about it or not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm not crazy, I'm burgdorferied! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guest guest
cheryl......i receive ssd due to a lyme dx.....the key is like everything else to educate them about our disease.....the lawyer that finally oked me from ss( prior to a hearing due to a new process and alot of pressure put on them by my congressman commented to my lawyer how much she learned about lyme while reviewing my records.......everything and anything i could find i lyme i sent them......it made a differance....we are close to being put on their " offical illness list " ...the more we educate them the better off we will be....i feel that going for ssd using a differant illness when u suffer from lyme is a diservice to the lyme community.....just my thoughts......we must and our finally showing people this is a real disease...... Guest guest
Roe, if you have another disability, ssa will accept it first. Guest guest
roe.... guess alot of us " old hippies " have lyme...and the word of those songs meen differant things to us know......in my younger days i paid alot of money for a foggy feeling ....now i get it for nothing.....besides music life has a differant meaning for me know...before i became disabled i " chased my tail alot... " working 7 days a week to make the allmighty $$$$$ which i thought would make me happy.....what a fool.....it took this illness for me to find the real meaning of life......good friends.....family.....the small things that mean something....living with lyme and without any $$$ for a few years made me realize many things......i still would love to have more $$$$ but i know am getting ssd and a pension....plus my wife got a job with benifits...which is nice....we survive.....god gives us what we need not what we want....by not being able to work i am able to do things i really enjoy....activities with my kids being involved in their school and sports programs.....and doing charitie work for a group that raises money for chuil;drens charities....while many times i have to force myself to do this stuff i get real satisfaction from it.....not $$$$$ but personal good feelings...that are priceless.....plus lyme activism controlling my own destiny and trying to change things......so lyme is a dual edge sword it has robbed me of many things .....but i have chosen to make the best of it.....and continue on.....tho many daysn it is the hardest thing i have ever had to do.......peace and love to all Reid
