I also want to say that a couple of my Christmas presents included Janita's Natural Handmade Soap From Your Kitchen: the soapmaker and Mandy's Aroma (written with ) and I haven't been able to tear myself away from them! I especially love Janita's recipes for making natural colors--something I had been trying to research for days now! mj hi mj The natural colours were such fun to research and explore..... the colours are so rewarding and I love the way that you can intensify the colours or lighten them and they give such a beautiful hue to the glycerine and when intensified ...quite jewel like...combine as in primary colour blending to create orange ie alkanet and saffron/turmeric...... green was the sticky wicket LOL.... but by using german chamomile as part of a perfumery blend I think there is one in the book there... the outcome is a beautiful sea green....I had tried all sorts including a green algae powder (smelt dreadful LOL) .also I am fascinated that the colours of the botanical oils themselves can give a colour ... I enjoyed using vegetable glycerine soap as I had control of the perfume in the soap far greater as milled soap is the medium to create excellent perfumed soap...plus as my little girl was still small... very safe to use.... and I was able to keep and eye open LOL........ I hope you enjoy the book... Alchemy soap ball is a revelation to watch as the colour changes before your eyes!!! The book was not about soapmaking from scratch.... susan miller cavitch, sandy maine, melinda coss and other great soapmaking books cover that in depth .... mine is simply about colour and perfume ..... with blends that have the percentage dilution worked out for the reader to use in confidence. Thank you for your kind comments.... if you have any questions I will be happy to help in any way happy holidays Every good wish, Janita Janita Haan Natural Perfume http://www.janitahaan.com tba Flowers of Myddfai http://www.flowersofmyddfaiproject.com Janita's Attar http://www.janitasattars.blogspot.com --------------------------------- Support the World Aids Awareness campaign this month with for Good

Guest guest
And I hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year. Incidentally, have you wondered about the random question marks that appear in your posts [see the word " Merry " below]? This is a bug in the AOL software, and it is easy to correct. Here's the fix: Begin procedure: On the AOL's WEB MAIL on the Mail Page, behind the words " AOL Mail " ,in very small print, is a link to " Settings. " 1. Click on " Settings " . 2. Look below the " Back to Mail " button; there is a list that includes: General, Accounts, Compose, Spam Controls, Calendar, Instant Messenger. 3. Click on " Compose " . 4. From the resulting list, REMOVE the check mark from in front of " Use Rich Text/HTML Editing " . 5. Click on the " tab " for " SAVE " . 6. Then Click on " Back to Mail " . End of procedure. " Dear Janita, I was thrilled to see the recipe for green in your book. I've been experimenting with a big bag of alkanet root, so now there's more. I can't wait. Do you think these colors (orange, peach, green) will work for natural cosmetics too? " Alchemy soap ball is a revelation to watch as the colour changes before your eyes!!! I'm honored to be learning from all of the many talented people on this list. Thank you everyone! mj Hi mj I wouldn't like to say about colour in natural cosmetics as that could be a different ball game ie safety standards etc. and something you would have to look into... there are members here that work in cosmetics and perhaps they might chime in if they see this post....and be able to offer advice to which are safe for cosmetic uses...... Every good wish, Janita hi mj again I thought I should expand a little on the above...... for home use ... orange peach and green try it and see.... I don't see why not... If you are thinking of selling your creations..... just have them tested first.... There is a microbial service here on the group.... because even if you are buying in base products which will have had all the necessary tests done and best before dates... once you add a colour (natural) and perfume it just makes sense to have it checked again so that you can sell with peace of mind....with your own bnos and best befores. Guest guest
I want to take a minute and tell you all Happy Holidays. I am not on here as much as I used to be. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. I also wanted to update everyone. I will have a cardiac catheter ablation done on Dec 29th. I hope it is successful. Does anyone take a B vitamin supplement? I haven't been told that I need to but I think it may help my energy level. Anyways, Happy Holiday's and Good Cheer! Jen
