Guest guest
Dear Leah, I got this answer from a teacher: " The plasma consists of water and proteins. This is done for several reasons, one of those may be that the chemical test for what you are trying to measure may be interupted with by the red blood cells. For instance when measuring glucose, if you don't separate the RBC straight away, by the time it gets to the lab, the RBC have used up the glucose! " This leads me to believe also that certain ingredients in drugs and even vegetation can be the catalyst for the concentration levels to either lower or heighten the levels in the blood, which could potentially give cause for alarm. We all know what happens when our blood is out of sync. I hope someone has a better explanation. Carpe Diem, Lottie Duthu
