Guest guest
The group does have a files section. Might be interesting to create a members' bios section and put our stories there. Access permission would have to be given by the list owner/moderator to do that though. Someone new like me would really be inspired and encouraged to hear some of these stories as we strive to push our way through an unknown medical maze. Hey others here - I'd love to hear your beginning stories in detail too. Hugs, Kath
Guest guest
Kathy, I had first sign of RA in February of 1997 and was diagnosed in March at the age of 47. One day my shoulder was hurting and I thought I had just slept on it too long.. I had to ask my son to help me carry a mattress to another room in the house. Within just a couple of days I woke up with both my hands and feet swollen and knew something was wrong. Family doc referred me to rheumatologist who quickly diagnosed me within a month although the bloodwork did not show in RA factor. I was devastated and felt my life was ruined. I hurt everywhere very soon. They first started me on Naprosyn I believe but very soon had me on prednisone. I saw many docs and many drugs... glad to be just on anti-inflammatory and occasional Minocin now. I put a story on website at www.rheumatic.org under medical histories if anyone wants to read my ordeal. I got tired of all the drugs and still hurting or fighting side effects basically. At first I did have some depression but soon realized that I must take control and do some of my own research because it was MY body. I was very determined to get off of prednisone to the point of lowering the dosage quicker than is suggested which caused some pain. I am a redhead and very determined one, too! Ha! I also did pray for help to guide me to someone who would REALLY help me and not just hand out drugs..... You are all a super group and I am glad I found you.... I still have issues like skin rash, extra mucous, and lately dealing with menopause. But the alternative doc helped me with leaky gut and getting off prednisone. Sorry I wrote too much...
