Guest guest
My husband has one to two beers a night, or if we go out for diner he has a glass of wine with me. No problems at all. Aletha [low dose naltrexone] anniversary I have a question for all you most knowledgeable people out there in LDN land...My 10th anniversary if coming up, and I will be using LDN by then, will I not be able to tip a glass with my honey? No bubbly with my hubbly? No treat with my sweet? Or is ok to have a drink with LDN....not go on a bender but will a small glass of celebration kill me? I'd really like to know *before* he goes out and blows a bill on a bottle! Guest guest
I thought naltrexone was supposed to be used for alcohol dependency...now I know it is supposed to lessen the desire but I didn't know if it did so by making the person ill while drinking. I know that some drugs do work that way, I was hoping that maybe the fact that it is a low dose would permit me to "indulge" at least that once!!! Thank you SO much for your answer!!! I didn't want to do anything that would go against the LDN effects. I really appreciate this! Guest guest
Naltrexone itself was approved by the FDA in 1984 in a 50mg dose for the purpose of helping heroin or opium addicts, by blocking the effect of such drugs. By blocking opioid receptors, naltrexone also blocks the reception of the opioid hormones that our brain and adrenal glands produce: beta-endorphin and metenkephalin. Many body tissues have receptors for these endorphins and enkephalins, including virtually every cell of the body's immune system. Guest guest
I think it goes like this- At large dosages the naltrexone blocks your euphoric feelings on drugs and alcohol. I don't know if it actually keeps you from taking it. I think it just keeps you from getting high on it. In the low dose case one would only block the endorphins for a very short period of time and then your body would actually be creating a lot of endorphins to make up for you brief period of not having them show up on your body at the time that your body does its chemical check (between 3 to 5am, I think). When you take it for drug and alcohol abuse you most likely take it at a different time of day and you are blocking them out for an extended period of time. Hope that is correct Aletha [low dose naltrexone] anniversary I have a question for all you most knowledgeable people out there in LDN land...My 10th anniversary if coming up, and I will be using LDN by then, will I not be able to tip a glass with my honey? Guest guest
That makes a whole heap O' sense!!!! Thanks! I feel way better now, one less thing to worry about. And I do, once in a while, also like to have a brew or a glass of wine with dinner so I am glad I won't have to worry about it! Guest guest
You actually know the date of your first surgery? Mine was 10/74 but I don't remember the date. I blocked so much of it out that it just flooded back when I woke up from my revision surgery. I couldn't stop my mind from doing the mental comparison. > > I am " celebrating " an anniversary of my own this week. Tuesday, July 11 > it will be 32 years ago that I had my HR fusion. Guest guest
That date is indelibly burned into my mind--just like all the other " life changing " events such as my wedding, when my children were born, etc. Besides, I have a scrapbook that me and my mom put together at the time. I don't get it out much, because when you're young you don't want to think of yourself as " different " but it's there if I ever want to look at it. > > > > I am " celebrating " an anniversary of my own this week. Guest guest
Carol, I can tell you take it all right on the chin, don't you. I prefer if able to avoid, if not then confront. It is good you can go back and revisit it if you choose. I don't have that option and neither will I with this revision, except this time I documented it. > > > > > > I am " celebrating " an anniversary of my own this week. Guest guest
Deborah C., why not first go to your FAVOURITE RESTAURANT for a delicious dinner, THEN, go on a CRUISE. Then I can wave my fins to the two of you as you go by me, then I will swim to guide the ship from the port out to the ocean, swim beside the ship to make sure it is going in the right direction and then guide the ship back to the port. Guest guest
Peggy, Happy Anniversary! I guess that also means this is our one year anniversary from our first retreat week? I hope you have a fantastic time with your daughter and hope that you get to have more fun than just sitting in the car all day...but hey, if thats all you get...its better than last year, right? I know you are a lot younger, and probably more flexible than me...but I bet you will find any yoga quite challenging at first. I think I must have been around 18 months when I tried it and I felt like a board. If there is any way you can work with Ellen Kiley I would recommend it. She certainy understands the sublties of our spines since she has the same fusion. The other thought would be the PT right in your area who was going to come to the retreat and do yoga with us (she had to cancel at the last minute due to a death in her family) She actually teaches other PT's how to use yoga in their practices and I got the sense that she would understand us very well. Let me know if you want her information. If Ellen can't come next May I plan to see if we can arrange a workshop with her again. Take Care, Cam
