Guest guest
I was just given leukovorin, two tablets the day after methotrexate dose, only. It was also for mouth irritation that happened immediately upon the methotrexate dose. When I started injections instead of tablets, the mouth irritation stopped and I was put back on daily folic acid 1gr day. -----Original Message-----From: aclavern33@... Anyone taken this? I was told is is similar to folic acid but stronger or more effective. I have been in an on going battle of sorts with my job on my return to work. They are so stupid they can't even follow there own set of rules. They get upset when I use there own rules against them and call them on violating there rules. So I wait and see what they say. They asked once again for clarification of my work restrictions from my doctor. The sad part is they are really pissing off my doc and his nurse! Each time the HR dept wastes my doc's time or his nurse he gets angry and rewrites my restrictions even more detailed and restrictive. I can't understand why they have problems with my restrictions. I can only work 4 hrs and out of that four hours I can only stand a total of 2.5hrs. But they need clarification....they are read those orders as I can stand for the no long than 2.5 hrs without a 10 minute break and then go back to standing for the remaining time. So we shall see how it all turns out. I just keep telling them at work they need to get there act together and figure out am I going back to work or not!I am also working with an ADA, disability, labor dispute lawyer and he is full of advice as well build a descrimination case against my employer. Guest guest
Hi Toni, My doc gave me leucovorin too but, for me, the folic acid, worked better. I take a pill twice a day morning and night and it helped the mtx. yukkies better than the leucovorin. Again, that is just me, everybody's body reacts differently. I am sorry you are having problems with your job, Toni. I have been through all that and know how draining it can be. Hang in there and take care of yourself. My former employer gave my dr. such a hard time that he just wrote me out all together and said you can't work in that place it is not good for you. I was lucky to have a good dr. Best of luck to you. in NY aclavern33@... wrote: hello all, My doc has stopped the folic acid and is starting me on Leukovorin. Anyone taken this? Guest guest
Your problem with your workplace sure sounds familiar! Two years ago I had really bad plantar fascitus- so bad I had trouble walking and my job is standing and walking around all day on terrazo floors(I work as a gaurd in a museum). They have no other jobs available to allow one to sit and we are not supposed to sit down when there are visitors in the galleries. In practical terms we can't even sit when there are no visitors because there aren't even benches for the visitors in most galleries! Because of the way breaks are set up there was one gallery where I spent the greatest amount of time that could easily be a fixed post(everything could be seen from one spot)so a stool could have been provided. I went to the doctor twice to get the needed restrictions so my feet could have a chance to heal- the first set of restrictions were basically ignored ( or offered in such a way as to really inconvenience and annoy my coworkers)which is not what I wanted/needed. The second round of restrictions was ignored for over a month(this round stipulated a chair be provided in the above mentioned gallery)- my boss said he was looking into an appropriate stool(he delays things so long that the original problem passes or you give up trying). I was steadily getting worse and even took to sitting on the floor/ stairs- anything to get off those feet- hard to scramble up if someone came- and definitely not professional looking. Finally I'd had it and I contacted personnel and the employee health office to tell them my plight. Well, that got results and I got a chair within 3 days of that e-mail. My feet then slowly got better and only bother me now toward the end of an 8 hour day. My coworkers also appreciate the chair-so it was worth the ire of my boss to get it. --- Montemorra <neproper@...> wrote: > Hi Toni, > My doc gave me leucovorin too but, for me, the folic > acid, worked better. Guest guest
Thank you for the responses. Its nice to know that there are others that have been there. At the same time it makes me angry that employers intentionally treat people like that. Create so much stress and hatred for work, when simple things can make the world so much easier. Well, I have to admit in my job here are no chairs allowed under any circumstances. I have seen 9 mouth pregnant women with huge bellies and ankles to make told stand or go home and go on maternity leave!! The latiest in my saga..is I am making too much noise and telling my situation to anyone that will listen that might be able to help. My HR dept is not happy about this cause I tell the story of how stupid they really are. I work for a international, major computer manufacturer...and employees are treated like dirt!! So I have been told NOT to discuss my issues with anyone except for HR...NOT!!! I am working with a lawyer now..been taping my phone conversations, journaling everything, and working closely with my LTD caseworker and vocational rehab case worker. Which by the way they were completely left out the loop!!! There is something rotten in the way my company is treating me!!! I have to return next week and stand on hard concrete floor for 4 hrs a day. I guess I should be greatful. I do get a 10 min break in the middle! I have been told I have 90 days to return to full duty in my normal job or find another job that fits my restrictions or they will talk termination! So I am now on a mission to find a better job..one that I can do without revealing my health problems. I am making sure I get any thing major like my weight loss surgery out the way within the next 90 days. So I will be ready to go when I either quit or get fired. I will loose my medical and drug coverage, but will keep dental and eye care. My hubby has medical but it does not cover all my meds, weight loss surgery or many other things. My LTD company has already stated many of what is going on is wrong...even suggested legal counsel. I want to work and would prefer to work. At 38 I think I am a bit too young to be medically retired. But they will support this if it gets that bad. So on Tuesday my employer will get a nasty gram from the LTD people asking once again why they are refusing to do vocational rehab training with me! My LTD will pay my company to train me, pay my salery and keep me on LTD for 3-6 mos after I complete training and go into new job to insure its a good fit. If not we try all over again! So its truly a win-win situation for me and my employer if I can show these idiots the light!!! Keeping me in the job that makes my health worst is not the answer! I finally got my Leukovorin today after having to wait 24 hrs for pharmacy to order it. No pharmacy in the area stocks it! I will start tonight. I have bad mouth and throat sores as well as dry sore eyes. My doc prescribed an oral med to help with the pain and to encourage the sores to heal. He also is referring me to opthalmologist for full eye exam because he says I may be developing some sort of RA eye problems. i am 100% sure all the stress coming from this stupid job is the cause of this!!!! UGGHH!!!! The crap we have to go through!! Toni
Guest guest
good luck toni. boy do i remember those days!!! sometimes i wish (mostly finanacial) that i had those days back again(oh yes and benefits!!) i fought until i had no fight left. of coarse when i finally left my job i had ssd coming in. it is really getting hard to continue to support myself. my part time job i have to just keep my head above water. i have to go in today because i need the $ so bad. i missed a day earlier in the week. my stomach has been upset since wednesday. i think my ulcer is acting up with all these bills piling up. i am also used to a nice tax refund and this year (if i'm lucky, i sent in a estimated return because my old boss went bankrupt. yes dr tisa!!) p;us not having any drug benefis really adds up. other than financial reasons i am not in any more pain like i used to be back in those days. give em hell, smoke if you've got them!! kathy in il
Guest guest
, I love your name!! My 16 yo daughters name is ! I am on weekly injections of MTX. Pills were horrible!!! I was taking 2 mg of folic acid a day and so far it was working great!!! Then started mouth sores and sore dry eyes! I take the leukovorin after my MTX shot tonight. I hope it helps...My mouth and throat are terribly painful. My doc ordered some stuff like orajel with steroid in it suppose to help heal them up fast! He said to also swish with mylanta or maalox to coat the sores. He said this would help and was cheaper than buying magic mouth wash! Guest guest
Hi (my middle name) and Toni: Was wondering if that leukovorin stuff are tablets or are they injections you do yourself???..The only side efeex I hav to those MTC tablets is tiredness and maybe just an upset stomach..maybe I should be taking more..I only take 5 tablets which I think is 12.5 mg per wk. ...I know doc said that one should not exceed 25 mg (10 tabs per week). ..how much were you, are you taking now???..Do you inject yourself?..I hate needles, but I guess you get used to em??? Sorry to interject into your posts here, but had to ask bout this leukovorin stuffs.... Take care and I hope you both have a " pain free " day.... Hugs .. > , > > I love your name!!
