It is thought that the stress of the surgery, untreated reflux of stomach acid, and the painkillers all caused a bleeding ulcer. His hemoglobin dropped to 7.1. She is having a 4 hour surgery to remove all the VNS leads from her neck and chest on May 17. We are asking prayers that she has no ill effects from the surgery (vocal cord and facial nerve damage). We are also seeing a Endo specialist at MD Cancer Center in Houston. We do not know yet if she is needing surgery for her pituitary gland tumor. I will keep you all posted. We see them on May 25. Expect a message from us on that day. We will also let you all know how the surgery goes. > >

Guest guest
Melynda, I am so sorry that your arm is healing this slowly. I know it is depressing. It is bad enough for things to be difficult but when they are impossible that tends to be too much. I usually include everything in one prayer at night, but tonight I know a friend that needs her own. Many, many people here will also pray for you. Take care Honey, and try to hold on a while longer. Guest guest
Melynda, I also have RA and Osteoporosis. Prednisone does help with the pain but be aware it also causes more bone loss. My Rheumy took me off when the last bone scan showed significant more bone loss. I was in an accident about three years ago and my bones just shattered. The knee on one leg, ankle on the other, several broken ribs, broken skull, punctured lungs, you name it. It took almost two years for everything to heal due to the weakness in my bones. Please be very careful taking any steroids. I now take injectable MTX, Humira, Cymbalta, Lyrica, vicodin, oxycontin. I work full time so am not here as much as I would like but if you have any questions feel free to email me at any time. Guest guest
Melynda, I do have both, but I've been lucky so far, no broken bones. I'm sorry your not healing, I know its very hard for you. You talk about how hard it is to rely on others for help, I feel the same way. This is a real big issue for me, and with the RA so bad right now, I can't do much. My house is a wreck, and its not going to get clean, unless I do it. I'm at my wits in right now. Last weekend, I just laid in bed and cried. I know it could be worse, but it isn't great right now. I see myself slowly getting worse, and there is really nothing I can do. I've tried, that is for sure. When I was first dx, I really thought I could win this battle. You vent anytime Melynda, were all here for you. If you need someone to talk to, just email me anytime. Guest guest
If you have any specific questions let me know...I worked in ICU for 20 plus years and have a lot of experience with transplant patients........ My address is i_ownaberner@... My prayers are with you and your aunt. Deb RN From: Stimulator [mailto:Stimulator ] On Behalf Of robbd1980 Sent: Saturday, January 03, 2009 2:24 PM Stimulator Subject: Prayers Needed My aunt Carolyn had a lung transplant July 9, 2008. Since then she has been on a ventilator and in ICU. Things had been going well and the plans were to move her home with the ventilator. However she took a major turn for the worse yesterday. She has been extremely swelled from fluid for the past week or so and yesterday evening the fluid moved into her lungs. Her lungs were completely full of fluid so the vent had to be turned up to do all the work. Her oxygen dropped extremely low and she became unresponsive. The doctors got her to start coming back around, but had to sedate her. Her vitals are better today, but she still hasn't been allowed to wake up. Since her lung transplant in July, her first grandchild has been born. Her granddaughter was born in October. The baby is now three months old and her grandmother has only gotten to be near her three times. Of course then, she was only able to hold the baby if she were wearing a plastic gown, rubber gloves, and a mask. I am asking that you all pray not only for my aunt, but also for her husband, daugher, grand-daughter, son-in-law, and the doctors and nurses working with her. At this point we don't know what effect the low oxygen and fluid has had on her. Thanks in advance for praying. I trust that God will take care of the situation. Whatever the outcome we must trust that God knows best.

Guest guest
Thanks for the prayers. Friday, my aunt had a major back-set. She became unresponsive and oxygen dropped to 68%. She recovered from that, but now has turned for the worse again. The doctors say her problem now is congestive heart failure. They drained 8lbs of fluid from her during the night, but say she is still holding something like 30 pounds of fluid. I've not been to see her this week. Mom and I are babysitting my cousins 3 month old daughter, so she can be with her mom. The family keeps us up-to-date by internet and telephone. The latest update stated that if anyone wanted to see her they needed to come in the next couple days. That isn't the kind of new anyone wants to get. > > Hello > > Of course I will keep your Aunt Carolyn in my prayers as the rest of your > family. > > Hang in and please know that we are all here for you. > > Gentle hugs to you and all, > > Kathy G. > Co-Owner > **************New year...new news.
