Guest guest
Hi Robin, That's great that your son is starting an internet business. I know that if our son was more able he would do better focused on either school or work. He hangs out at my husband's convenience store/restaurant and " helps " . He is quite able to do the job alone, just not safe to do so. He is supervised pretty much 24/7. If he is around people there is always a potential for trouble.... He is much better in general at moderating his reactions, but since we are never sure when that will shift, it's not very good for business.... On the other hand, if we did not have this option to keep him busy and occupied there would be much more trouble. We are really hoping that the medication changes planned will help with all this, fingers crossed. He is scheduled to go to a new school, in a program attatched to the hospital he is currently at, in a day program. He does not want to go and is tired of being regarded as a " mental patient " , wants some normal, as do we all. He has no friends anymore, not being in school for so long and out of the social loop. This is the biggest loss for him. He says the only thing that keeps him going is the hope that he will get back to " normal " school and make a friend. Breaks my heart. Illness aside he is really great kid with so much to offer. I keep reminding myself that he is still young with a whole life ahead of him, just try not to look too far ahead.... Our son gets depressed in the same sense as you mention. Life pretty much sucks from his point of view. Don't blame him, I often feel the same way for him. He does very well considering. Compared to many others we are very lucky with all the resources we have. Feel we just have to keep hanging in. Well, let's hope 2008 will bring better things for both our sons, and others on this list! Happy New Year!
