Guest guest
Dear Terri and Duane, I too had a transplant 9/17/10. I'm 50, soon to be 51. There were a few complications, but nothing severe. I have been very fortunate so far. You will do great. One word of wisdom that was passed to me by a BMT patient, Don Adkins, was to eat 2 or 3 bites at every meal. You may not have an apetite at all and the food will taste disgusting, but try to take a few bites. This keeps your stomach working. My BMT Dr told me not to get frustrated about food if it made me nauseas, because it would just come back up anyway. I tried to drink, but that too tasted awful. Since I had fluids via IV, I was told not to worry too much if I couldn't drink alot. My total was about 8-16 oz a day - not very much at all. But I tried.  Duane - It's good to read your daughter is doing well. Does she have a carepage? Mine is www.carepages.com and type in jackieschneider, I think. I was not very enthused about keeping it up at the time. It felt like a job to me, I don't know why. So I had my daughter or sister post when I was too tired.  Wishing you both success and continued positive thoughts and strength. It is not any easy road, but what makes us fight, makes us stronger to keep on keepin on.  God Bless, Jackie S. She is doing well. Over the course of time since the transplant there have been some complications, but each complication is a little less severe than the last one. Her hair is coming back and if this is going to be her natural color it could be the first time I have seen her natural color in years. She still has frequentl check ups and is still cancer free. I wish you best of luck in your journey. > > I have been a cml patient and member of this group since 5/2000. I've tried interferon and ara-c, gleevec, sprycel, tasigna, each only lasting so long then no longer working. I am currently down at s Hopkins and received my MUD transplant on Monday 1-31-11. Feel free to follow my journey http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/theresamigut. There is hope out there, they never thought I would last 10 years and hopefully this is a start to my brand new life. It sure is not easy, but looking forward to the future. > > > Theresa Migut > stown, Pa > > dob 9/12/67 > diagnosed with cml chronic phase 5/12/2000 >
