Guest guest
Hi Beth, Now I know where you're at in your journey. I asked in the other email so you don't need to explain all that again.  I'm happy that you're back on the drug controlling the persistent beast. Every 3 months for follow up is awesome - you and Bobby definitely deserve it.  Take care, Jackie From: bethgalliart@... <bethgalliart@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Dr. Talpaz visit Date: Tuesday, February 22, 2011, 1:46 PM  Bobby, Wow! Never a dull moment. Very scary update. I am so glad to hear you are feeling better and getting back on track. Yikes!!! (I am on the 3 month schedule; although in close touch with my study coordinator at the moment as I re-started about a week and a half ago and we're carefully watching to make sure no side effects kick in...I did go through the bone pain all over again on re-entry which was a nightmare, but the pain did pass after 72 hours.) Hang in there! You are an amazing woman. BethG [ ] Dr. Talpaz visit  Hi everyone, Mon. my daughter drove me to Ann Arbor for my visit with Dr. Talpaz. Normally it's 3 hrs to get there, 3 hrs. there and 3 more back home. Not this time. The good Dr. Talpaz said my ekg was indicative of a heart attack and sent me to the ER. I did not leave until Wed. afternoon!! The good news is 1) I did not have a heart attack, I had a stress test and the heart is fine. 2) the cardioversion (shock the heart back into normal) worked and I am no longer in Afib. Not sure why the ekg read that way, I think one of the doctors said it could have been due to the cardioversion,. Anyway, they did help with the shortness of breath. They said I had too much fluid in my body, heart and lungs included, and loaded me up with lasix. I have lost 11 lbs since Mon. am. I feel much better, have not been short of breath , just a wee bit on occasion. They said there was not enough oxygen in my blood and that is what made the heart work harder, causing SOB. So, 11 lbs lighter, I feel better. 3) the other good news is I don't go back until May, and will finally be on a 6 month visit schedule. they sort of flew by the 3 month ones. Hans and Beth, if you are reading this, are you on 3 month or 6 month schedules? Have a great day everyone, the sun is out here in Ohio and the snow has melted, looks great to be gone, but now they are worried about flooding. Always something, Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.01 11/2009 PCR 0.034 02/2010 PCRU #840 Zavie's Zero Club
