Guest guest
Thanks Jean I am always interested in the theory underpining practice especially in relation to health promotion and making change. Currently I am concerned with the prevention of physical child abuse and trying to unravel where any practice issues fall within the various theoretical frameworks. This comes from the belief that an understanding of theory will inform evaluation methods and influence effectiveness. Does anyone have a shared interest in prevention or any literature to share? It seems to be so rarely written about other than in principled terms of being a 'good thing'. It also seems very difficult to get funding for a research project in prevention as one cannot offer firm outcomes in the short term but what can be offered is greater insight into what is acceptable to clients and their views on 'what works' for them in what circumstances. Guest guest
Dear , or should we call you Dickie? Not quite a decade, but you seem to be doing quite well, despite your slowing down as one can call it, but we can mark it down as a milestone. You are doing what few people would have the gumption to do. Age is a number. Physically I feel older than I probably am, but mentally I think I am average. I think a lot of people will be following you on the charts to see how far you can go with this, in the hope that they will be able to follow suit. I think there are always quiescent cells present from the articles in journals I have read, but if you are happy with your quality of life, isn't it better that way if you can feel better and do more? I hereby nominate you as the leader of the cause. LOL Carpe Diem, Lottie Duthu
Guest guest
Thanks Lottie for you kind words. I do prefer to be called . I remember at one time I had a discussion with my ONC about being in the trials and he suggested that I wait until all the other CMLers participating with more advanced CML had paved the way for me. So when Gleevec started causing problems I decided it was my turn to contribute something for consideration in this wild journey we are on. My desire is that all my results are monitered by the super hero doctors treating us so that others may be able to ease their worry about CML being a death sentence. I remember that I was first told that I probably had 5-10 years with Geevec and then about 3 years later it was changed to 10-20 and the last time my Onc and I talked about it he thinks I will die of something other that CML. The coffee club that meets 5 days a week asks me to be quiet because at 70 because I am not old enough to understand what old is yet. Yes the quality of life is much more important than living longer without a mind or body causing you to be in a comotose state of existence. I have no desire to be a leader as I have always played the renegade running along the side of the pack where I can disappear if things turn ugly. LOL H. > > Dear , or should we call you Dickie?
