Guest guest
Hi Everyone Non CML News I have not posted since the Fires. I would like to thank everyone (CML Family) who have forwarded private emails to ask if myself, family and horses are A-OK and also everyone asked about my community and how they were faring. My home and surrounds are doing well. Our area had over 3000 acres (1800 hectares) (someone will work out the math) of bush, pasture land, fencing, and a few sheds etc. The community was awesome and livestock trucks, lorries, cattle trucks, horse floats from far and wide, came into the fire areas and moved as much stock as they could. Absolutely amazing. Many properties were evacuated. There were some 650 fire fighters both professional and volunteers who stood side to side and battle the fires. Such heros. At one point the containment lines could not be held back and everyone just had to run. The embers were 4 kms in front of the main fire. The helitankers worked thru the night and day and were the most amazing thing to see come over the ridge pouring on loads of water. There were small spotter helicopters in the lead to advise where the tankers should drop water. It was like the cavalry. The other main fire at the same time - further south - they lost 75 houses - many homeless, businesses lost. Many have only the clothes on their backs. The Federal Govt called these fires National Distasters. No lives were lost. The next week at home. It has taken sometime for everyone to return home and start clearing up. Many horses have been killed in the fire. Others left many ill from the smoke inhalation. Others put down from colics caused by shifted to new pastures further away, different water, the stress and not being near their horse buddies and of course the smoke. One of my horses had to be put down due to heat stress or heat stroke. It is still very hot and humid. The heat is so hot that it burns your throat. Dry dry heat. Very windy so everyone is very nervous and jumpy. For those of you who may not have heard , New Zealand has had another major earth quake yesterday which hit Christchurch and many killed and more missing. This is so very sad, and the area has been declared a national distaster. Many Australians from all our services are being sent to assist. Thank You all again - your messages of care meant alot especially when we were hoping for the best and wondering if our friends and neighbours would pull thru We were lucky that no lives were lost - someone was sending good karma -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CML News Received today in the mail. 3 monthly PCR result - still PCRU - this time the lab tested over 1.5 million BCR and came back undected a big fat zero. That is the most amount of BCR tested for me so far. Very thrilled today. I have been well for the most part. I have had a week at times recently that haven't been that well and gone to bed for a day or two. Mainly fatique and perhaps stress from the fires - perhaps exhaustion. However, the Positives. My nails are growing, remember Lottie when they fell off and were just skin. My Hair is thicker and getting some colour back - - and having a hair cut next week at the Hairdressers - now that is bragging abit. What I am experiencing is called reprigmentation and is a side effect of glivec. My skin is quite fair now but in patches I can see colour. I have had some eye issues - which are being investigated - may not be glivec related at all but medicos are onto it. When I know you will know. My other bloods are not that stable but most are just below normal so that is quite significant as well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speak soon Sue # 1197 __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5899 (20110223) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
Guest guest
Hi Sue, thank you for the update, I know we were all wondering how you had gotten on during the terrible fires. I'm sorry you lost your horse, how tragic is that. And now the earthquake, that is terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the victims. But that big fat zero on your blood test is just great, there is always something to be grateful for.
