I wonder how many of us had childhood pneumonia. I vividly remember a week

in hospital with pneumonia at the age of 5. Injections twice a day

,antibiotics I suppose. And no visitors because that would be upsetting for

the child!

I had a very bad case of pneumonia at the age of six months. Mom

says I almost died from it. They had to put an IV in my leg for a

week or so bececause I kept pulling it out of my arm and mom came

to visit one day and found me covered in blood with the fuzz from

the blankets stuck all over it! Hehe.

Then, from the age of one to eight, I had twice yearly bouts with

tonsilitis. Then I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at the

age of nine. Funny, I never did have any more bouts with

pneumonia after that. I am convinced there is a link. Maybe the

infection decided to go into my joints instead of my tonsils.

Actually it is on Valentines day. She hurts so bad now. She has it

in almost all of her body now. She still wakes up crying for Mama to

make it better, and I can't. If this Dr. doesn't find what's wrong

then I don't know where to turn to next.

Kisha, No, my diagnoses of pneumonia was not related to

parasites.

If it is, I don't know about it.

I didn't have a fever. I began seeing this new doctor for

treatment

of candida with a strong concern of having some type of intestinal

worm also. So he suggested that the test from Great Smokes

would

be the best. They have a single tests as well as a double or

triple.

I wanted the triple test. Of course the triple test ran more

money.

So I was surprised and so was my doctor when this Klebsiella

pneumonia

showed up in this test. The test is called " Comprehensive Digestive

Stool

Analysis " Anyone having problems would benefit from having this

test

for starters. It didn't solve all of my problems but it was a great

start. Not

only do they send the Doctor the results but they send you a personal

copy of the results you can keep for your records. You get a comment

page

that discusses the evaluation of your test results.

Also, since they found the Klebsiella pneumonia, they include a chart

that

showed which Prescriptions work and which don't, and Natural

substances

that work against this particular bacteria.

This is what it says about Klebsiella: " infections are often acquired

in hospitals,

mainly in patients with diminished host resistance. Klebsiella is

generally very

resistant to antibiotics. In other sites or systemically, it can

cause cystitis,

pneumonia, prostatitis and bacteremia. In the intestine, it is

commonly asymptomatic,

though it may cause diarrhea. Recent research links an intestinal

Klebsiella infection with

several autoimmune diseases including Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Considered a possible

pathogen in the amount of 3-4+ "

My doctor told me that this is the type of pneumonia that puts old people

in the

nursing homes and they don't come out. Many die from it. How I

was walking

around with it, I don't know. I was told to take uva ursi 2 times a

day for 4 weeks.

I took it for 2 months. Each week I began feeling better and

better so I continued

to take it until my felt more alive than I did. My doctor raised his

eyebrows to the

fact that I took it so long because you are to take it only for short

term.

Nothing showed up in the test in relation to yeast or parasites. I

read on other

message board that this occurs very often.

For anyone having trouble with bowel and digestion, I would recommend

this

test. It test digestion, absorption, Colon Environment-this included

good and

bad bacteria, mycology, mucus and blood content, immunology, and metabolic

markers, parasitology.

Liz D

Liz, you were diagnosed with pneumonia from parasites?? Please

elaborate.

Did you have a temp? What made them look for parasites in the

first place?

What type of pneumonia (if OK)?

Pneumonia is life threatening (and rapidly so). This is the kind of

thing mainstream doc's exist to treat, using heavy duty Rx medications

which may have tons of side effects, but you don't die from the meds,

unlike the disease they are treating.

I know these meds are OTC in lots of other countries, but here you

need a " hall pass " from the doc to go to the pharmacy and get them,

and MD's are VERY well trained to recognize and diagnose things like

pneumonia. Much though we may criticize mainstream medicine on this

list, it really is good for a lot of things.

So keep doing all that in addition to whatever the doc Rx's.

Not that I know of.

Given your limited time, I would not believe anything I found on the

internet or in the library anyway, given the risk of life threatening

illness.

Could any of you great medical background people tell me if there is

a better way to treat pneumonia (walking) in a child with her

different chemistry? Is there any way to research treating kids that

have our childrens imbalances safely?

Vitamin C/mineral IVs have been found effective for such conditions,

and also ultraviolet blood treatment. But both require IVs.

I am so sorry!

There is a Nasty Pneumonia going around this year! Please, anyone who is

coughing and sick and just not getting better after a week or so, and running

a fever, even if it is just low grade...Please please please go see the

doctor!

I had it, I didn't realize How sick I was... until the doctor told me, he

would admit me to the hospital if I were " working outside the home " . I was

sent home to bed for three weeks and on meds for over two weeks and am Still

on " be quiet " ... was ordered quiet for six weeks! And I am normally Healthy!

My son had it, my husband, and Adrienne now. All of us have done the

antibiodic treatment and all are doing ok now. Adrienne was the hardest to

get to go to the doctor...she called wanting to drop a chemistry class...

because she has been too sick to attend... I told her... ok, but on ONE

condition...she get seen by a doctor first thing in the morning. She went,

and came back to her dorm with a fist full of medications. ( Of course I

also told her, if she DIDN'T go see the doctor...I was coming over to pick

her up and bring her home to see her doctor here at home...and of course no

college student wants mommy to show up... and haul them off.)

Please, anyone who has just a " bad cold " please get seen. This pneumonia is

nasty, and you don't feel as sick as you really are.

In our area, Southeast Michigan, there have been some rapid deaths of children

due to complications of a flu-like virus that has been going around. The deaths

are being investigated CDC. People that are sick with flu like illnesses need

to be very cautious and not wait to get medical help.

Sharon,

High temp and chills are two big Pneumonia symptoms. once had

Pneumonia with only two symptoms--high temp and it hurt when he coughed.

Would the Ped be willing to call something in for you??? Until the storm

clears and you can take her in?

Sharon,

I forgot to mention that has become infected while on abx many times.

It does happen with our kids--it just depends on the specific germ you are

dealing with. Pneumonia responds usually to very specific antibiotics.

Re:

,

Thanks so much for the information.

Where does it hurt when she coughs? >> She complains mainly in the middle,

but I will try to get her to be more specific. She is sleeping now , thank

goodness so when she wakes up I am going to ask her.

[

Do you have a stethoscope that you can listen to her lungs? Unfortunately not.

My sister is a nurse so I bet she does. If the weather was not so bad I would

ask her to come over and listen to her. The roads are absolutely horrible. All

the schools are closed.

Do you think it could be a bad case of bronchitis? ] Possibly, however she

has bronchitis before and with that she usually has long coughing jags, and

coughs through the night. Last night she did not cough much through the night.

It is really strange, she does not seem to be congested at all, but she was very

winded going from her bed to the bathroom. She was doing that type of breathing

when you perse your lips for air , for a short time until she could catch her

breath. I was thinking maybe she just feels so awful from everything else that

it just exhausts her to walk.

thanks again for your help, it gives me something to go on until I can get her

in to the pediatrician.

Another day in the life of our world, Some days it is so sad. I hate to see my

child suffer. I pray to God that things will improve with each infusion. These

last few months have been horrible . I keep the health insurance with my job,

so I am very careful to protect my employment, however my employer is only going

to tolerate so many missed days. My husband has been taking turns lately

staying home which is a huge help. I don't know how all of you guys deal with

much worse than what I am dealing with. My heart goes out to all of you.

You are all so wonderful, and are a great source of comfort to me, when I get

spastic , and sick with worry like I am now. Thank goodness you all have been

there and done that. You truly do understand!!!!!!!

Love to all ,

Sharon,

Autumn has had several cases of pneumonia. Not all of them were bacterial,

though. Still, most times we are prescribed antibiotics to cover any secondary

infections that might stem from the pneumonia.

I have to agree with the extra liquids. It is extremely important that she

doesn't get dehydrated as well. It only makes the situation worse.

If it is pneumonia, the doctor might prescribe an inhaler to help break up the

stuff in the lungs -- or if you have a nebulizer, you may do some treatments.

Oral steroids or inhaled steroids can help bring down the swelling in the lungs

to help get the junk out sooner.

I always view pneumonia as a heightened state of asthma. This may not be

entirely accurate, but the protocols seem so close to me. We just follow

through with the treatments as scheduled, give the medicines, allow extra rest,

etc. Chest percussion therapy could also help break up the build-up in the

lungs. Ask your ped to show you the proper technique. I do CPT when Autumn has

a bad asthma attack or a bronchial infection because it always seems to speed

the healing.

I'm sorry you're so blue today. Hang in there and let us know if we can help.

sinusitis, and allergies), and Duncan (22 months)

Thanks Sandi,

has major chills. I had 4 quilts around her last night, and had to wrap

my entire body around her to keep her from shaking.

I am taking her to the doc now cuz she is so miserable, She is almost

lethargic which worries me. We have a scale that we use 1-10. (1 ) means

feeling great , 5 means I don't feel well but I can take it , and 6-10 we save

for really bad. I just asked her 1-10 , where are we ? And she said 10 and fell

back to sleep. Doctors office are out to lunch, but as soon as they return I am

going to brave the ice storm and take her in. . I pray this is just another

virus. .

Thanks everybody for your input.

You guys keep me calm and sane.

Love to you all
