Guest guest
Sharon, It sounds like she may have the flu. Ask her where it hurts when she coughs. Also make sure she is getting plenty of fluids. She can sound very dry if she is not getting enough fluids. Popsicles work great especially if she will not drink. If you do not have any you can make them in ice cube trays with juice. Just put a small fork or spoom in them as they freeze. or put them in a rag as they suck on them. Then, I would call the doctor and ask them how to use your nebulizer, how often and how much med to let you get through til the roads are clear. IF she is on Omnicef in most circumstances it will hold off a bacterial infection. If it is a viral pneumonia then keeping her lungs open, lots of fluids will usually help you get to the next step. Just my opinion. BARBIE
Guest guest
Sharon, If she is leaning over and pursing her lips and is unable to talk to you and you have been giving her treatments every 3-4 hours you need to talk to your doctor immediatley. You need a medical plan from your doctor. 911 is an option not to forget. BARBIE

Hopefully this shot of Rocephin will do the trick. I was very worried it was pneumonia but thank goodness it WASN'T!! Praise God for that. Guest guest
- If I remember right seems like Jim, the list moderator, had good results inhaling a few drops of tea tree oil in a hot cup of water several times daily. If you also have a nebulizer use a mixture of CS/MSM and do breathing treatment 20 minutes or so at least three times daily. -- In oxyplus , " petruccione " <petruccione@s...> wrote: > > > Hi All, > > Grandma is down with pneumonia. Guest guest
You can try putting hydrogen peroxide in your ears, and also your bath water, if you can't find the 35% food grade you can use the 3% but this has stablizers in it.......when I run out of the 35% I use 6-8 bottles of the 3% over the counter and soak in as hot of water as you can stand 30-45 minutes.....then head to bed with plenty of blankets....... Also cheyenne peppers work great also, boil the whole peppers, take them out of the water, let it cool then soak your feet..... Hope some of this information helps..... gale ^i^ http://www.AwakeningsEnergy.com Re: Pneumonia > > > Hi All, > > Grandma is down with pneumonia. Guest guest
For a few days I've been off list due to a sinus infection, which for me, often goes into bronchitis or pneumonia. I know that you have had the stuff for quite a while but havent read lately what the reports are. I'm spending lots of time assessing the weather and road situation in the attempt to decide the best time to leave for GA from MI. I don't know if I wrote and acually emailed the post I wrote about mycolplasma pneumonia, but that was the longest lasting for me and one of my sons. I still get pain in the area where it was when I'm feeling wimpy and I actully had the stuff years ago(about 20 to be exact). The warm sun of the beach that year was especailly healing so it seemed to me. Hope you have a good trip.

Guest guest
Hi Matt, I have had pneumonia several times. Was hospitalized twice 4 days the first time and 5 days the second time. The first time they would not discharge me unless I assured them that my daughter (two at the time) would be cared for by someone else. I'm a single Mom. You need all your strength to focus on yourself getting better. They were right, it was tiring enough the first week just to take care of myself. My daughter came home the end of the second week. I was still weak, but well enough to have her back home. The second time was last March 2003. My daughter was 13. I was discharged, but didn't feel any real improvement for a couple weeks. On and off low grade fevers, aches, and pains, swollen glands on and off, shortness of breath and fatigue. I went from finally recovering from the pneumonia, and into a flare. Take the meds, rest and do not overdo it! Janet - Ohio Undif Spondy, Fibro, CFS, Raynauds

As you know, I had pneumonia in December, had strep throat and pink eye in February and now I have pneumonia again in March. My body is totally exhausted. I have never, ever felt so bad. I know that the people on this list will know what I mean. I am used to being in pain and forcing myself to do things while at the same time maintain a balance of not overdoing things. But today I feel like I can hardly move my hand and getting up is like climbing a mountain. My antibiotics go until Friday, the day I have a Doctor's appointment to have things checked out again. I guess part of the problem is that I am going stir crazy from being cooped up three times in close succession. You can only watch so many reruns of Star Trek. I went out for a bit today to get a look at real sunlight and breathe real air. It made me feel good but it didn't take long before I was wiped out and exhausted. It just seems unfair somehow to put up with this and all my regular pain to. I feel I should get a " get out of jail free card " for other health problems. Guest guest
Matt, I've experienced a similar thing with sinus infections. I think our immune systems are already taxed by our spondyloarthropathy so then when we get really sick it's hard to recover. I so hope you feel better soon. Pneumonia isn't something you just bounce back from. I've known so many people who've been in the hospital with pneumonia the last few months. Hopefully, your doc will do another chest X-ray to make sure you're recovering normally. But, my experience is that it's harder for me to recover from an infection than " normal " people who are otherwise healthy. I don't have the immune disorders common on this list (as I am mom, not Adrienne) The doctor didn't put me in the hospital but sent me home 'to bed' for two weeks, then upon recheck my meds were continued for another 2 weeks and I was told 'take it easy for 6 to 8 weeks " He wasn't kidding! Taking it easy... meant just that. I would go to the mountain with my family... and my only job was to take the dogs (miniture dachshunds) out for a walk... the first week, the walk was up and down the side of the RV... and I was Exhausted... back inside to rest for 2 hours until the next doggie walk. The next week the walk was around the RV... The next week, I walked a little ways up and down past a few (very few) RVs... then back to ours. The next... I was thrilled, I made it 1/4 way through the parking lot... next week, 1/2... and by the end of ski season, I could walk the entire length of the parking lot. Still, I was tired after that. It took me until August to begin feeling 'good'. This year, in October I got my first ever pneumonia shot. Stung like a son of a gun...but figured...it was better than getting sick all over again. And so far.. it is working I am not meaning to scare you, as that is not my intent.... only to share that... pneunmonia is an exhausting illness. If it hit me this hard without immune disorders, I can only imagine it would be harder you or Adrienne. My MD told me to be sure to drink hot tea, and breath in the steam, eat hot soup, and inhale the steam, take a hot shower... and inhale the steam. He said the warm moist air helps rid the pneumonia and heal the lungs. Sending you wishes for a better day today and tomorrow!!! Guest guest
Matt, my brother had pneumonia and pleuresy, and needed another course of antibiotics to finish it off... I would say see the doctor before you reach the end of your antibiotic course, because he might want to extend it. I think this is more effective than waiting until the course is finished, and then perhaps having to start the antiobiotics again... But try not to worry if it is taking a long time - from what i have seen, pneumonia is really nasty and in a whole different league from normal colds and chest infections. Get well soon and take care, Helen _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool emoticons - download MSN Messenger today! http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger
