Guest guest
I had that bad cough in the beginning as well, as have many people who have Morgs. Jo, the Mod over at Finding1cure group suggested taking Pau du Arco (spelling?) to cure it. I bought it as a tea and used it and large (5+ grams ) of Vitamin C to cure it. Once it was gone it never came back. In contrast, my wife, who also has this never got the cough. My own thought on this is, a large part of this has a fungal componant and Pau du Arco is a strong natural anti-fungal. It is well know in South America for it's ability to fight cancer. There are many Doctors that now believe that cancer has a fungal componant as well. By the way, Hi to Bill, KJ, Frito, Joan, Rita, ect. I know it's been awhile since I posted....but with the bad economy, it's been a full time effort just to hang on to my job. I'm better these days, but still not cured. Guest guest
Have they used steroid injections? Micah had a bout of pnemonia that only the steroids turned around. Also has she ever been checked for silent reflux? Did she have a fever with the pneumonia? Micah's pneumonia would come on suddenly and he would throw up and get lethargic...he didn't have the coughing though at all.  Loree pneumonia  I haven't posted in ages but I need some advice. Amelia (10 with DS) has been hospitalized for the last two weeks with pneumonia. She was on a ventilator for 14 days and has been on a by pap for the last three days. The cause of pneumonia was never established but the doctors at Fairfax Inova hospital think it might be viral. She is doing better but I want to know if anyone else in this group has been in this situation. Amelia has always enjoyed superior good health. I am disconcerted by how very ill she got this time. The way it happened was a little over two weeks ago we were at a waterpark and Amelia was charging up and down the slides, eating hamburgers, and coughing non stop. After a few hours of this I packed it in and put her in the car to head home-a two hour drive. One hour into the drive she was coughing very loud and had ragged breathing. I stopped at the nearest ER and within two hours she had been put on a ventilator. It was very hard for her to come off the vent. Took a week longer then doctors initially predicted. Now the by pap is taking longer then predicted. She is recovering but it is taking longer then it seems it should. So my question is how nervous do I need to be that this will happen again? Any advice is appreciated. Ann, mom to Amelia and Jake (9)

Guest guest
became VERY ill this spring with resp/bronchitis issue too after a very long period of being GREAT. She does have a long history of it though. I think this summer there is a very a nasty virus going around a long with a banner year for allergies that seem to be affecting just about everyone. Add to that inhaling some pool water and you know...... I can totally see this happening! Does she have a history of resp issues? Does she have asthma, or maybe un-dxd asthma? Our first ped did not make that dx and man she suffered because of it. Once dx the asthma meds have made a huge difference when she gets a cold. I certainly don't know your child's history, nor what led up to this, all I do know is that resp stuff this summer seems rampent and hopefully this is just a case of the 'perfect storm' and it won't happen again! Guest guest
Hi, Ana had pneumonia two years ago. She was in the hospital for a week and they used steroids and other medication as well. It began with coughing constantly, lethargic, vomiting and diarrhea, and some fever. She fainted while we were at the lung doctor's appointment, and that same night she was admitted at the hospital. Till this day, and I pray she never gets it again, she has not had pneumonia. Recovery is very slow, Ana was dismissed from school almost two months, per doctor's recommendation. Hope Amelia gets well! Guest guest
My oldest son got a micro plasma pneumonia in Feb and was in the ICU for 23 days and homebound for six weeks with high O2 needs. He was 17 years old (about 2 weeks shy of his 18th birthday) so he was in the peds ICU. After trying everything they could think of the doctors called an adult pulmonologist who finally found the right course of treatment to get Nick home. It was a long road to recovery but he is much better now. He will continue to follow up with the pulmonologist through the cold and flu season to make sure he doesn't get anything like this again. Guest guest
Matt, that is good advice for Bobby. I remember when I was in the hospital, they brought me a little plastic instrument with a tube and mouthpiece. I had to breathe in it several times a day and force the air into my lungs. I just ran across it the other day in my closet and I couldn't remember how I used it, so I may just toss it in the pile of discards. I just threw my old feet casts away that I was told to save for 10 years. That is my problem, trying to get rid of things I no longer use. I'm sorry you had to suffer through the agony of pneumonia for so long. I saw my doctor one day for breathing and pain problems in the lung area. He said I was fine, but when I couldn't breathe that evening, I called the ambulance service and the EMT told me before I got in the ambulance that I had pneumonia. The doctor was embarrassed when they called him that an EMT had diagnosed my problem, and he then said that he hadn't " heard " anything when he examined me. He tried to then embarras me by asking why I had called an ambulance. I told him it was because I could inhale, but not exhale and I knew they had oxygen on board and were in direct contact with the hospital. I guess I am not done standing up for myself against the " establishment " . Hope you are fully recovered. I still use albuterol. I have my compressor on one side of the room and Jimmy has one on " his side " . LOL Carpe Diem, Lottie Duthu
