Guest guest
Well - ENJOY it, LOL. Go ahead and see the psych anyway, explain what's been going on (show your diary) and that way, at least you will have that initial appt over with if things were to get worse again. Oh it would be sooooooo great if it all just stayed stopped! Who knows?!?! > > Okay, this is wierd. Guest guest
Yes to the crazy mother syndrome, as in gone crazy from living with this disorder! Just wanted to suggest that your daughter may be between " waves " of ocd. In the beginning our son went days at a time without symptoms only to have them return. Also the rituals/obsessions will switch sometimes to something entirely unrelated. Not wanting to dampen your hopes of the possibility that your daughter's ocd may well have settled down, but generally these remissions are short lived if indeed it is ocd. I'm sure when you describe all of what " was " going on your psychologist will be able to be clear enough for you. They usually do a ratings scale for ocd called CYBOCS. Hope you get some answers tomorrow. Barb > > Okay, this is wierd. AFter the horrid week we had last week, > had a pretty good weekend, and now today, no symptoms at all. Guest guest
Hi : Funny you should ask about the " crazy mother syndrome. " I have been told by so many people (all of whom do not know enough about us to render an opinion that matters)that my son is wonderful, fine, normal and ok -- but that I am the one with the problem that I am starting to believe it must be true! I'll bet many of us have wonderful stories on this topic! It is a subject all too near and dear to my crazy heart! mm .. > > Okay, this is wierd. Guest guest
Just wanted to say that even if the symptoms are mild and your child can still function, it is generally the nature of ocd to expand and grow itself unless it is managed. It is critical that it is understood, and that a child learns how to " combat " the obsessions. So don't feel badly if things seem mild or non existent when you go. It's much easier to treat when it's mild than when it's dug in deep... Again, it is the nature of ocd to hide, as best it can, in public. We at home are the priviledged ones to play witness! Which often leads to a feeling of crazyness, when no one else sees what you see, even you might start wondering if you are making it up, or looking for things.... Oh, the circles you can run around this one! I hope and think you will gain some clarity after your appointment. Good Luck! Barb > > > > > > Okay, this is wierd. Guest guest
Right with you on this one MM!!! I've decided what does not kill you makes you stronger, builds character and all that... Also, made the decision to forgive others before they even open their mouths. I decided they just can't know or understand the pain it can inflict, or have any idea whatsoever what our reality is. Just can't know unless you've lived it, and it can be so impossible to explain, and usually no pay off in terms of creating much real understanding. The forgiveness part is, as they say, for myself, so I don't blow a gasket! Not sure how many I have left, getting protective in my older, wiser age... Sad to say that some of the most offensive things have come from professions. When my son was clearly hypomanic the doctors suggested we needed some serious parenting help(and we sure did!), but lowering the ssri was the real answer. My son's latest doctor suggested I just need to take a sedative, and that was when I was calm in a meeting (it was intended at as a joke, I believe, but I'll make them thank you)! I have found some professionals the most insulting, diminishing, and least understanding and empathic. I would love those individuals to have just one day with this, full time that is!!! Ok, so you hit a nerve for me too MM!!! Good release though, a little rant first thing... Thanks for that! By the way crazy is the much saner way to go in this life. Just my opinion.
