5k training?

Hey everyone....

This summer I'm going to be running a 5k (please note I said " going to " and

not " want to " ;). I need to start training for this event as I've never run

more than a 1/2 mile in my whole life.

What I want to do (and have been) is start out slow and just add 30 seconds

a day onto my run time. When do you think the best time for me to do this?

After I do weight training/cardio? or before?
