Annika's Ped Appt

We went to the ped yesterday. I was so excited to take

the pictures, measurements and headicle.

Unfortunately, my ped wasn't that impressed. Everyone

else that I have showed them to has been amazed at the

difference in Annika's head. My ped was just kind of

luke warm. I really wanted to rub it in her face a

little. I know that sounds bad, but our ped tried to

talk us out of the band and I really wanted to educate

her about its benefits and show her that it really

worked. Maybe she was just trying to save face.

Oh well, at least I know it was worth it!

Tami:

Well then - it sure does sound like your ped has quite the attitude

regarding the bands! What a shame :( Here you had concrete evidence

with the head mold & she still had a bug up her butt about it.

Heaven forbid she be proved wrong!

It sounds like she's a PERFECT candidate to receive a copy of Kia's

excellent letter she gave to her ped!

More than likely Tami- no ped wants to admit they are wrong-she know in her heart though! Keep up the great work!

You're right - Kia's letter would have been perfect!

Tami,

No doubt was she feeling that salt in the wound!!! Keep showing her your

pictures- my Doc was equally amazed (just visually) and is forever commenting

on how good his head looks- (she never supported my decision until it was

over and done with!!!) I don't know if she's being sarcastic, since its

overkill at this point, but I don't care because his head does look good,

bottom line!

You are right - I will just keep commenting on it at

her ped visits so that she realizes just how important

it is to properly advise her patients. She is a good

ped & I really like her, but I don't think she took

the situation serious enough. We got the whole " it

will round out on its own " comment. She did help us

with aggressive repositioning and thank heaven for

that or Annika's flattening would have been much

worse.

Tami,

It will be great if you can show her before and after pics, and let her keep

a set to show other parents that banding can be effective! She might really

start analyzing that head shape and become a member of the head police! LOL!

CT provided Annika's ped with a before and after set

of pics. They actually put the before pics on the left

side of the page and the after pics on the right side

of the page. It is really cool to see the difference.

My ped had a copy in Annika's chart, but said that

they were hard to tell the difference because it was a

two dimensional picture. I DISAGREE! But you have to

know what you are looking at - (i.e. the flat drop off

in the back from the side shot and the inability to

see the nose from the top down shot).

I am convinced that Annika's ped was just trying to

save face. I will keep trying to educate her and the

medical group. I am pretty relentless - and who knows

she may just break down and become a member of the

head police after all.

Thanks,
