Guest guest
Dear Dr. Chansky, My 8-year-old daughter was diagnosed with OCD/anxiety and ADHD 5 years ago. She suffers from " just right " OCD.......she needs everything to " feel " and " be " just right, from her clothing to her hair to her shoes, ect. She has been on Fluoxetine 15 mg (Prozac generic) for 3 years now. This medicine has worked great and has allowed her to function with very minimal OCD symptoms. But..........she is VERY defiant, angry, explosive and has moments of raging behavior. These behaviors are ALWAYS brought on by situations where she is asked to do something she doesn't want to or asked to do something that she is just not ready to do, or if at the moment she is having and OCD problem. I thought this was all related to her anxiety, but now I fear that it may be related to the Prozac. We noticed this behavior for about a year, but is getting much worse as time goes by. Could this be a side-effect after all this time and on such a low dose? How would I know the difference. We've tried to wean her in the past, but her OCD would always come back to the point where she could not function. We're afraid to take her off, but if this is causing the explosive behavior?????????? What do you think? Thank you so much for your time, Kath ************** Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape. http://body.aol.com/fitness/winter-exercise?NCID=aolcmp00300000002489
