Hello everyone,

My dad had the endoscopy done today..and the news is not great, but not

nearly as bad as we thought. He does have a tumor...but only one (and the dr

was thinking there could've been several) and so the rest of his stomach is

clean...so they are sending his results to the surgeon to see if they can

remove the tumor. If they can, then they would have to remove more of his

stomach..but the tumor is high enough that they can save some of his stomach

and he would be able to eat again. If not, then they will need to do

radiation to shrink the tumor...and then i don't know what. But in eihter

case...he will not be on feeding tubes or anything like that in the

foreseeable future. And we aren't looking too far ahead right now..but

taking it day by day. I was really expecting much worse news...such as the

cancer has spread uncontrollably and he would only have a few months left..so

right now this is very good news. Of course it would be better if he didn't

have any tumors..but it really is good news that there is only one.

So i just wanted to let you all know...and to thank everyone for their

support!!

Wonderful news....the only thing you can do is take one day at a time and enjoy every minute. You will all still be in our prayers and we wish your dad the best of luck with his course of therapy.

Thanks Heidi,

It's similar to what my dad is going through. He did have part of his stomach removed already...and he was able to eat after surgery too. It took some time though...at first he could hardly eat. Now if they remove his tumor...they will have to remove more of his stomach...but he should still have enough left that he will still be able to eat.

This cancer is so awful..and there are no guarantees. But they sure can do a lot nowadays....

Thanks and i hope your fil is doing ok.

I will be praying for you and your family.

My father in law had is esophagus removed because of cancer. He was

able to eat again after the surgery; the doctor pulled the stomach up

to replace the part of the esophagus that was removed. Not exactly

what your father is going through but I was hoping to let you know

that those doctors can do some amazing things.

God Bless,
