Kathy,

Could it be possible that he has a sleep disorder, too? That's what we

discovered after much frustration with the amount of time my dd would sleep and

falling aleep in the daytime and just couldn't seem to control it. The doctor

thinks she has narcolepsy and has put her on Vyvanse to help keep her awake.

Hi,

In addition to my two kids getting treatment for anxiety,

I have their dad to worry about as well. He just started

treatment with invega, and was fine for about three weeks,

getting things done and being normal. Prior to this he had six years of

failed SSRI treatment, most of which made him sleep abornormal amounts

of time, like 15 hours a day.

Anyway after a month on invega he is now crashing and cant get out of

bed today, feels nauseated and exhuasted, even after sleeping

since 9:30 last night (12 hours now).

Ideas??

His second opinion appt isnt until

Jan 24th. I was wondering if I should call

and try to get him in sooner.

He says he is also very stiff and can barely get in the car

w/ muscle stiffness.

I believe that these are typical side effects that warrant an

immediate call to the doc. The stiffness could be tardive

diskinesia, for which the doc will probably prescribe another pill

(cogentin). This will ease the stiffness. I may have the official

lingo wrong, but we had this problem in my son with the atypical

antipsychotics like risperadal. Invega is a biproduct of risperadal -

- as it was described to me. It is a form of risperadol that

bipasses the liver somehow. It sounds like he may be on way to high

of a dose to me. In my experience, the docs usually start small and

works up inch by inch to slightly over the needed dose, and then inch

back to the point of the " right " amount. There are other effects

that may indicate toxicity -- so I would call the doc right away

about these side effects.
