Hello,

My daughter, Hannah, had been diagnosed with positional

plagiocephaly. Like many others, we noticed it early on and were

told it would round itself out. We finally went to a new

pediatrician who told us to get the DOC Band. We have already had

her measured and this is were the problem lies. She is now 10 mos.

and we are wainting to get approval from our insurance co. I

personally called the insurance co. and they told me it would take 30

days just to have the case looked at by a nurse. Now that I know

what needs to be done, I am frustrated at having to wait. It could

be another two months before she gets her band. Will the band be

less effective at that point? Everything I have read states that

you should get them in before 1 year. I would really love to hear

from someone who has had success with the DOC Band in an older

infant. Thanks,

Hello and welcome. Wow - your story sounds very familiar! I'm so sorry

to hear of your insurance troubles. My only advice at this point would be to

really press your insurance company. Have you tried speaking to someone in

management at the company to explain the importance of expiditing the

process? Would your ped be willing to call the insurance co and explain how

important timing is? I'm sorry to hear that everything is in place and the

insurance company is dropping the ball! Argh - how frustrating!

I hope that you will get the decision sooner rather then later. My daughter

wore her helmet starting at 9 months and finished when she was 15 1/2 months.

She got very good correction, however, it was not 100%. Unfortunately if she

had started earlier she might have gotten more, but I'm glad she got what she

did.

Best wishes and let us know how things are going!
