Hi all,

Today at play group I was talking to the mom of another baby with severe

brachy (he isn't in a helmet because the neurologist she went to see told

her it would round out the same with or without the helmet). But I was at

least happy to have heard through the grapevine that her pediatrician's

office had taken the head shape seriously enough to send her to a

specialist. Well, after talking to her today I found out the ped had never

mentioned his head shape (they had only talked about it when SHE brought up

the concern). There are only 2 ped offices in burg, and I was so

frustrated over my doctor's lack of concern with Cole's head shape that I

had scheduled his 9 month appt with the other office (feeling that I had

lost confidence in my doctor to look out for my children's well being). Now

I think that's a useless move because I think they are as unconcerned as my

doctor was. And I'm so frustrated to hear of another office treating this

lightly. So, I plan to finally write that letter to my doctor's office (I

decided to try to make it a constructive letter vs. an " I'm so angry at your

incompetence " letter). I'm having a friend who is an editor help me with

editing so it will hopefully be as well written as possible. Once she is

done with the edits, I'll send you guys a copy for suggestions. I'm

planning to also mail it to the other pediatrician's office here in

burg and to some offices in the next city. Hopefully the docs will

take it seriously. I feel so helpless and frustrated about the rise in

plagiocephaly, and I'm not sure what else I can do to try to help other

parents... No wonder I see so many flat heads in this area... the doctors

aren't concerned about it at all!
