Guest guest
Believe it or not, PARENTS can make a difference! Our stories are good, our feelings are passionate and our aim is true. When we speak, our government listens . . . they may not want to . . . but, our powerful stories do get their attention. Now is an important time to let your voice be heard on all the issues affecting our children (young and old) with disabilities. They want to hear from us. Here are some simple things to do. 1. Ask Governor Perdue to help families waiting for services in Georgia. Go to <A HREF= " http://www.unlockthewaitinglists.com/actionalert.html " > http://www.unlockthewaitinglists.com/actionalert.html</A> 2. Be sure to tell Sonny what he can do!!! http://www.votesonny.com 3. Let Mark hear from you. http://www.marktaylor.com/ 3. Contact your local legislators and let them know what is important to you. Don't know who they are? Go to http://www.ciclt.com/aadd/govtoff.asp?Client=aadd or http://www.vote-smart.org 4. Attend the Georgia Supports Me/Supports Me Not? Rally! November 4 at 9:30 at the Georgia State Capitol. For more info., please go to: www.kidshealthcarega.org (psssst . . . maybe you could invite the governor to address the crowd). 5. Attend an " Unlock the Waiting List " Town Hall Meeting near you and find out how the NOW waiver will address the needs of children and adults with disabilities in Georgia. October 16th, 6:30-8:30 pm - Augusta December 5th, 6:30-8:30 p.m. - Roswell January 16th – Albany January 23rd – Macon February 20th – Savannah http://www.unlockthewaitinglists.com/TownHalls.html 6. Make sure you are on Heidi 's email distribution list by sending an email to heidijmoore@... with the following: 1. E-mail. 2. Full name. 3. If you are a provider, parent (child's disability), therapist, or why you want to be on the list, etc Read past advocacy updates from Heidi at: http://www.lgtinc.org/authors/41/Heidi-J.-?Page=6 7. There are public and private agencies in Georgia that receive $$$$$ to advocate for the rights of our children (with and without special needs) and adults with disabilities. Are they responding to your needs? Contact them and find out.
