Hi Heidi,

I am an appeals fanatic - I've already had 3 denied and have 1 to go. We've put tons of work into our letters, and they have all been very good. My husband writes them very well. We feel like our insurance company is just being very unreasonable. Anyway, I'm not proud of the fact that we've already been denied 3 times, but I hope that my experiences can help others. What I am proposing to you and the whole group is that if you have any questions about how the insurance company may interpret or twist the information you submit, ask me before you do it. We have used just about every article on this site, the Cranial Tech site, CAPPSkids, and plagiocephaly.org. I can tell you what Cigna says about it so that you can word your appeal in a better way and not let them use it against you. I'm confident that we will get payment eventually. Our next appeal is through my husbands employer and we have a much better chance. Cigna's actions have been very random and inconsistent, but the Employee Benefits Committe has the power and authority to interpret our policy and order payment. We paid for 2 DOC bands, so it will be well worth the battle. Payment for 1 band would be well worth the battle. Sorry to ramble on, but this is my passion right now (after my kids, or course). Good luck with your appeal, and don't give up. I haven't (it's been 6 months already and I'm still fighting).
