Guest guest
My 8 yr old has been on Zoloft for 6 months or so. while it has helped him a bit - his anxiety about OCD is better -- it has done nothing for his central fixation, which in his case is an irrational conviction that all girls will try to hypnotize him if he looks them in the eye. He also has a germ/food poisoning fear, and these two got linked for a couple of days so that he thought i in particular was poisoning his food, and maybe i also wasn't really his mother... very upsetting at the time, to say the least! Anyway, he's on a low dose of zoloft (25mg) because anything higher makes him bounce off the walls. His psychiatrist is giving me the choice of adding risperdal to zoloft (to hopefully reduce the irrational thoughts), or switch to another SSRI. His suggestion was Lexapro, though he did say it is not FDA approved for use in children. I am not that optimistic that it will be any different than the zoloft, but was wondering if anyone had good luck with lexapro after trying another SSRI. Thanks!
