I don't know about the shiny part but our clinician told us that sometimes when they sleep they put a little bit of added pressure on an area so that it could make a red spot a little worse temporarily. My sons red spots didn't go completely away but faded a lot in an hour but because he is so fair skinned she told us he was okay and sure enough they have gotten a lot better. A few haven't even come back.

Hopefully some more people with a little more experience will chime in for you. Since was just banded yesterday ... I am far from a red spot guru, lol.

Our clinician had our son wear the helmet for about 6 hours on our

last visit, and did not find any red spots. Unfortunately, after he

slept in the helmet all night, he got a red spot that wouldn't go

away after 1 hour.

I called the clinician and she thought that our son may have

sensitive skin so she suggested that we have him wear the helmet but

give him two 1 hour breaks during the day (instead of the 1 hour

break). She did ask me to monitor the skin where the red spot is to

make sure that it is not getting red or shiny.

The redness seems to get lighter after an hour but now it seems a

little shiny. Any suggestions?
