Hi ,

I have a daughter who was 2 1/2 when Cole got his helmet (at 7 months). I expected her to be jealous of his helmet, and I figured that she would probably end up wearing her bike helmet around the house (she has always loved her bike helmet, but it wreaks havoc on her gorgeous curls... talk about helmet hair!). But she accepted his helmet without any problems adjusting. Luckily, Cole has adjusted equally well. It really isn't a big deal (you will probably have a harder time adjusting, but that gets easier too!), and it will totally be worth it. Cole has no trouble riding in his car seat (and I love knowing that he isn't putting pressure on the flat area in the car). Good luck at your appointment, and let us know how it goes!

Well we leave on Sunday to get Lucas's helmet. I am somewhat nervous about driving 6+ hours with a two year old and a 6 month old. I am hoping to time it so we leave immediately after Lucas has eaten in order to get as far as I can before I have to stop and feed him.

What can expect when we receive his starband. What things are normal? What should I expect to see and what should I be alarmed about? Do they have any trouble sitting in their car seats with it on? It looks like it would be uncomfortable. Do you think Caleb will be jealous (for lack of a better word)? The orthotists office suggested to try a bicycle helmet for an older child. Have any of you tried that and does it work? How long does the first appointment take. What things do I need to ask about? Sorry for the barrage of questions. I am afraid to get up there and not ask something I should or something will not be right and I wont know it. I would hate to get back home only to find out something was wrong and I should have done something about it while I was there.

Thanks for all your help. I am so glad I found this list. I was just bragging on all of you and what a tremendous support you have been. I will be back on Thursday. I will let you know how it goes. I will even try and get some pictures to send.

Good luck at the fitting- I'm not too familiar with STARbands, so I'll leave

that alone and just say to be sure you stick around long enough to have him

wear it- that way any red marks or fitting problems can be adjusted while

your still in the area. You might even want to think about making a day out

of it- so that you can be there early enough that if you do have a problem,

you can see them throughout the day, just a thought with that 6 hour drive to

deal with. Best of luck and don't worry too much- I'm sure it will all be

ok!
