Guest guest
Hi all, Well Novali had her first follow up appointment today with Dr. Daw, the specialist who recommended the STARband. He's the assistant professor at UIC's Craniofacial Center. Anyway he looked at her briefly, measured her head circumference, and told me that it looks much better. He said he's surprised she's gotten so much improvement so fast, given her age. Now, he gave this opinion after looking at her for 2 minutes, when he hadn't seen her since April. I don't know what to think! How could he make such a judgement without any actual proof, just by looking at her. It's been 4 months, I'm sure he's seen many patients to specifically remember what her head looked like. I don't see improvement at all. Could it just be me? Should I trust his judgement. He is the expert after all. I want to be happy and reassured but somehow I'm not. Any thoughts? Tamara, mom to Novali (16 mo. STARband since 7/2/02) http://www.centellas.org/novali
Guest guest
Tamara: Did the Dr even have pictures to compare her head shape today to? I am sure you would have noticed any improvement yourself if there actually has been, so definitely trust your judgement on this one! Like you siad, he's seen soooo many patients since Novali, I'm sure he doesn't remember much about her headshape 4 mos ago! How's she doing? Guest guest
He didn't have pictures during our appointment, I don't know if he looked at any beforehand. They had more pictures taken yesterday so I'm sure they will compare. It just seemed funny that he would make such a quick judgement without measurements or pictures. My response was surprise, I was kinda like, " really, are you sure? " and he said yes. I don't know how to feel or what to think! Novali is doing ok. She had a big red welt on her cheek a few weeks ago that actually got worse after her last adjustment. We took her in on Tuesday and they adjusted it again. It's finally almost healed. I've had the helmet on and off to try and speed up the process. Other than that she's fine... Thanks.
