Guest guest
Hello Dawn and welcome. Repositioning has been a very successful tool for many members in our group. Some have used repositioning exclusively and have gotten all the correction they needed/wanted. Others have gotten some improvement with repositioning, but decided to band anyways because it was not as much correction as they wished to see. Repositioning works, but to differernt degrees depending on the child. Babies with torticollis are much harder to reposition as well as older babies due to their mobility. It's also harder to reposition if your child is in daycare and you are not there all the time to supervise! Banding is an excellent option if you don't feel repositioning is achieving the type of correction you want/need. Banding is also very helpful if tort is present of if you have an older baby that is hard to reposition. Your baby is still very young so you might give aggressive repositioning an try for the next month or two and then decide if you think you might want to try a band/helmet. Take lots of pictures often so you can track progress easier. Hope this helps. Welcome to the group - I'm glad you have joined us. Guest guest
Dawn, Welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about Riley's cephalhematoma, unfortunately you had no other choice really than to sleep him on one side, and I hope that you can start repositioning now if its healed up. We have had members have great success with repositioning alone. I would seek treatment if the facial asymmetry and ear misalignment is severe, but even if its not, continuing to reposition will be your best defense to keep that flat spot from progressing, and further misaligning the head shape. I think I have heard members talk of treatment in Brisbane, or Adelaide? I'm sure other members can chime in with their insight on what's available to you. Good luck and keep us posted.
