Guest guest
Hi Becky this is beck from the board we have some plagio moms in Ca I hope they respond for you-if you have your heart set on a DOC there is a flight service out there that can provide you with free airline flights to and from. I will give you a link-but please email me personally with questions at bbbhand@... we used them to fly from TN to GA every week for my sons treatment. Money is not a qualifier just NEED so don't let that deter you in seeking treatment or assistance. There are a number of helmets out there that can be effective int he right hands and 4 months is not too late at all-many moms can tell you they only wish they could have sought treatment that early. We would love to hear more of your grandchild and daughters story and are so happy you have found us. This is a tough time but stick with us we have a wealth of knowledge and experience and can help you every step of the way. We are glad you have found us. I am going to attache a bunch of different links for you to take a look at -- please ask as many questions as you like. Looking forward to hearing from you again! Guest guest
Becky, Welcome!!! I think we do have some members in No. California, I hope they can chime in here with some advice for you. Your granddaughter is still at a great young age if you decide to go with the band. How far would the Cranial Tech in So. Cali be from you? It might be worth the drive, and maybe you could look into angel flight, I know one of our moderators Beck, has used this service and can help you there. You should know that many Doctors will rule this out as simply cosmetic, or tell your daughter that it will work itself out. She may have to make a judgement call and decide for herself what route is best at this point for her daughter, and demand a referral for the band. If she has been repositioning agressively by keeping her off the back of her head as much as possible, and it has not improved, a band could be exactly what she should look into. Let your daughter know that swings, bouncers, should be limited as they are spending way too much time on the back of their head, especially since we now also back sleep our children. She can put a rolled up receiving blanket at the base of the neck in the swing to prop the back of the head off of the swing. Does your grandaughter have a noticeable tilt? Is she able to fully rotate her head left and right, while tracking you with a toy? Sometimes plagio is caused by torticollis, a tight neck muscle, which limits their ability to turn a certain direction, making one side on the back flat due to constantly favoring that side. Other times its just a preference, and it gets flat, and its harder for kids to propel off of that flat spot as it just takes too much energy. In any case, ask her ped to address torticollis to rule it out, and to address the plagio. Also keep in mind that the best results for banding are before 1 yr. old, although many members can attest that their kids started later with good results as well. Good luck and please keep us posted on your granddaughter! ' Mom
