Hi all,

I know this is totally off topic but I need some help.

I took my 3 1/2 year old to the ped today b/c I am concerned about

her foot. Her right foot turns inwards, causing her to trip while

walking. I just noticed this a few days ago, although I am sure it's

been that way. I thought she was a clumsy child. Anyway I asked the

ped for a referral to a specialist and she told me NO! She told me no

b/c she said that my daughter needs to become an established patient

there before she'll give me a referral! I told her that I have 5 kids

and they all go there! They only have medical records on her from

birth to 2 months. I lost my insurance and I had to switch doctors.

She was seen at urgent care in the last year though. She also told me

that she wasn't giving me a referral because too many ppl come there

once, get their referral and never come back! WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO

DO WITH MY DAUGHTER? I said to her what if there is something really

wrong with her? Let's just wait?? She said I am NOT giving you a

referral!! I was so mad! I can't believe what a jerk this doc is! I

know I've read in the posts that it is a patients legal right to see

a specialist. Anyone know where I can find that in writing? Is a

doctor allowed to deny you a referral to a specialist?

Thanks,
