Gail,

I am so sorry you are going through this crap. I hope Dr. Day makes

some heads roll!

upheld Cigna's original denial. I finally got around to reading page

6 of the denial and actually laughed out loud over it. They accused

Dr. Day, the doc who wrote the rx for the bands, of financial

affiliation with Cranial Technologies. So at 4:45 on a Friday I

placed a call to Dr. Day's office. Dr. Day answered the phone

himself and we had a great talk. I read him the paragraph about

himself and he told me to fax it to him ASAP as he is going to call

the medical director at Cigna and " raise some dust " . Clearly this is

not finished yet...I'll keep you posted.

Gail,

That is horrible! I'm glad you called the doc and informed him. I

have Cigna also and have no idea what the word is on coverage. The

orthotist's office is going to submit the claim and " see what

happens " . 's neurologist has already told us that insurance

companies don't really like to cover bands and he'll definitely write

any letters than need to be written if we get denied. I have a

feeling we'll have a long battle ahead. OH WELL. Still can't wait

to get that band on Monday!!!

I'm so glad that you are proceeding with getting the band for rather than wait for Cigna. I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I'm pretty sure you'll have a long battle ahead with them. From what I've seen, Cigna is the worst at covering bands, and the most frustrating part for me is their inconsistencies. I provided them with quite a long list of names for which they have issued payment for bands, but they don't even respond to it. I really think it is random on who they will approve and who they will deny. Unfortunately, they have denied us. Hopefully that means that you will win their lottery and be approved. The letter that we got today was so full of errors that I am amazed that this company is even still in business. We scrutinized our letters for days before we sent them in, just to make sure that we had not made any errors. They are such idiots that they even messed up which baby was Twin A and which was Twin B. For those of us in the delivery room that day it was pretty obvious. Only one apple had a stem. Then they said that there was no evidence of uterine contraint. HA. I thought I signed a release so that they could look at all our medical records. Now if I can see that there is evidence of uterine constraint based on my records, shouldn't a doctor see that as well? Oh, I'm sorry to ramble. I'm just so peaved about this whole thing. The good news is that Sam and Sara have completed their treatment, and is getting treatment as well, in spite of the major let down from our much-relied on insurance carrier. sigh...

Good luck to on Monday.

decision. What a bunch of idiots!

Dr. Day sounds so awesome! I'm so glad that you have him on your

Oh Oh Gail:

Sounds like Cigna is gonna hear it from Dr Day!! I bet he flipped

his lid when you read that to him. What a bunch of morons! Gimme a

break, ANY excuse they can pull out of their rear end to deny your

coverage. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Yeah, he didn't even let me finish what I was saying before he was telling me to fax a copy of the letter to him. If I drank, I think we'd go out and have a few together over this whole fiasco. We're finished with appeals, but we're not really finished. I'm sure they've spent more than $6000 denying us, so let's keep running up their tab...
