Guest guest
Hey Debbie, Thanks for asking! Ya, it's been a while. Hope y'all are doing well. Kale got his helmet about 2 1/2 weeks ago but Kale came down with Brochitis and couldn't wear it for about 1 1/2 wks. He had such a bad fever for the first 5 days and for the next 5 days he was so irritable that he when I tried putting it on, he would just scream. After he got over his bronchitis, he wore the helmet no problem. He really doesn't mind it at all, just like everyone says. The only thing is the sweat. I'm a little worried that he might develop an ear infection because the sweat drips down his neck and ears. I think that some of those drops might trickle into his ears and I'll have a problem on my hands. How did you deal with the sweating? > > I totally missed the last few chat nights and the pantyliner > convo. > > It sound funny but seriously, has anyone used pantyliners on the > > helmet? Guest guest
: Kale is probably still adjusting to wearing the helmet, especially if he's just been in it full time for a little over a week. Sweating is quite bad for the first couple wks on average that the child is in their new helmet/band. Usually after a couple of weeks or so in the helmet, the child's body temperature will adjust to this new thing on their head and the sweating should significantly decrease. He'll still sweat, but it shouldn't be nearly as bad as it is at first. Abby sweated pretty bad too for her first 2 wks in her band, after that it wasn't so bad. Is the weather hot in your area? That of course could contribute to the sweating. You might want to consider dressing him even lighter than you currently are. No socks, simple t-shirts & shorts, or just a onesie too. It sounds like he was horribly sick for a long week there huh? Uggg, poor kid, bronchitis can be pretty bad, glad he's better now . Keep us updated on his progress - good luck with the sweaty head. Man, I don't miss that smell! How did you deal with the sweating? no shoes no socks light clothes and keep a fan on at all times. The sweating sucks but I am glad everything else is going well.
