Guest guest
Hi Kim, I'm so happy to hear about Sky's rounding! That's great that the plastic surgeon was so pleased with the progress. We were supposed to follow up with the plastic surgeon after 5 weeks (I think), and I have yet to make the appointment (Cole has been in his band 8 weeks today!). He did take some pictures that I would be curious to see now (I didn't take any right in the beginning). Perhaps I should schedule that appointment... I think DOC is the original & has been around alot longer. My orthotist uses Star band b/c she also works w/ other things - such as amputtees. She said DOC you have to work for Cranial Tech. But, what I believe is the most IMPORTANT - hopefully other parents agree - is that you have a great orthotist that knows what they are doing. Ours has been GREAT - available by beeper on weekends, answers all questions, explains rounding & changes I don't really see, tells us what to expect etc. I think no matter how good a helmet is if the orthotist is incompetent you have problems so you have to trust them like your DR, go w/ instinct. We just had our 8 wk follow up w/ our plastic surgeon at Childrens Hospital of Phili. He uses a scale of severity of 1- 4 (0 being normal). She went from a 4 to a 1 in 8 wks!!! She was 7 1/2 months when she got it - so hopefully that makes you feel good. You are starting even younger. And, most say their babies adjust very easily. Sky didn't & still does fight it sometimes. So if you end up having a " fighter " like me - just hang in there- it is worth it!!! Kim & Sky > > > > > > > > > > > >
